    Last rides.

Not knowing exactly when we'd sell our house in GJ, nor close on our house in ID, and knowing that I'd feel some regret if I didn't say a last farewell to all of my favorite places out the front, side, and back doors, back in the fall I started doing 'last rides'.

I'm not the sort of sentimental sap that needs to re-ride trails I don't care for, thus I haven't been to 18 road in years.

But there are lots of others that I wanted to have one last look at. Moore Fun, of course. Gunny Loop, Mack Ridge, Kilowatt -- the list is extensive and probably includes more than you'd think, and some that you wouldn't.

I'm glad I started early. I'd ticked off most of them before the snow flew, then when we sold our house I had to stop doing laps on favorites and be a bit OCD lest I miss a few.

Over the past few weekends we had the opportunity to invite friends to join us for some last last rides, and we managed to fit some camping, shit talking, and even a float in there, too.

I'm 100% certain that we aren't done spending time on the Colorado Plateau. But I'm also looking forward to coming back to visit -- as a tourist -- and expecting the local communities that I patronize to start sucking up and tending to my needs, instead of giving a rip about the saps that live there and that make up the tax base.

    Ahem. Too soon...?

    Good stuff, Mike!

18 Road... Pfft! Been there done that and the majority of the region over the last 30 years. Good stuff abounds and I'm certain the new home region will be rich in good trails and memorable places for you and the Mrs. to enjoy.

Best wishes along the journey to a new and fresh start of a chapter!

Nice! Whereabouts in Idaho? I spent a little time in Victor this winter and was very impressed with the tiny surface I scratched.

Victor/driggs area is pretty cool, haven't had a chance to spend more than a few days there passing through for work. Hoping this summer to ride around Tetons more.

This afternoon I spotted Mikesee and his wife riding some skinny tired dual sussies on a MUP along the Cache la Poudre on the wrong side of the Rockies.

Until I realized Mikesee would never do such a thing. Such happy doppelgangers though.

Nice. My son and his lady are moving to Boise as soon as they find work. I might not be far behind.
