How popular are fat bikes around here?

Just noticed the reader counts and General Discussion has 488 viewers with Fat Bikes coming in Second at 415. Just a fad, huh?

I think we should change the classification of fatbikes to mountainbike, and call all those skinny wheeled things road bikes.

There's really only 8 of us, we just have multiple sock puppet accounts so it looks like there's 400+ of us.
I would advise not taking my advice.

As a new convert I am willing to walk over hot coals to get to my fatty. I have a shrine with a model of my fatty in it. During work all I can think about is my new love.

I saw this on my first day with my fatty ......says it all........

Based on my recent experience riding my Minn 3.0 on the STP (Seattle-to-Portland) I can unequivocally state that they are extremely rare, most cyclists have never seen one in person, and that the interest is genuine.

those that think it's a fad are incorrect in their assertions. There is a great deal of interest in the fat department because of it being new enough that there are many things to be dreamed up and experimented with. There are groovy new items for fatbikes coming out nearly daily. People are doing all sorts of experimentation with their fatbikes and having a great time in doing so. The sky's the limit when it comes to fatbike activities ranging from the cruise down to the corner package store to a full blown bike excursion. The fatbike ride pix thread does a great job of displaying the goings on out there.

Velobike, they could be added to the classification of gravel grinder, no? Range Rover, Jeep for the fat...

I forgot to mention, a fatbike will turn you into a giggly 10 year old. If you wanna relieve stress, break out the fatty and start pedaling!

I've only had mine for a month or so, but I also vouch for this...

I ride mine daily! It's a pleasure with the geometry of a Mayor being as performance driven as it is, worth every pedal stroke.

Over here , lots of ski resorts are getting in big time.
New customers for them who are using snowshoe trails and some X-country trails (skating)

So , no , it's not fading , it probably calmed a bit but it won't go away anytime soon.

    No around here anyway…..
