First Snow Ride on the Muk

Nothing too serious--just a couple inches of snow, and some 'go where no man has ever gone before' bike whacking. A little too much fun, I'm afraid.

As noted extensively in the Pugsley Performance in the Snow thread, I did learn how sensitive fat bikes are to weight distribution. On the road, en route to trail, I washed the front end out turning a corner with a bit too much speed, and a bit too little body english. And on the trail, especially climbing any kind of an incline or riding through tall/matted grass, she really, really likes a very rear-centric weight. The sharp seat post angle and setback seat post were very, very helpful.

And on that note...Muk 2 update...Thomson Masterpiece setback post (to match the stem).

    No Snowmobiles Allowed

I took my new Surly Necromancer Pug out for a ride in the snow today. I came across a sign that said, "No snowmobiles beyond this point." Do you think that applies to Fat Bikes?

    Bars?

What kind of bars are you running? Those look like Jones' bars on your bike. But they appear to be aluminum?

    Thanks.
