I have xc raced mine and it was a blast but if your truly out to compete I would recommend something else. That being said some dude on a Pugs blew past me going up hill at a 24hr race last year and I was on an Epic.

Yes! The local amateur team in Irkutsk do regular trainings on fatbikes and take part in XC competitions on them.

I'm not racing regularly anymore, but I did a local race on my Pugs this summer, and shaved 3 minutes off my time from last year. Definitely a liability on the uphill sections, but as good or better everywhere else.

Rad Rider: Is that the MASS series? If so, I heard about that guy. I think he uses an internal gear hub.

Easing into it. Did my last race half fat.

When I can build a light enough single speed rear wheel, I'll go full fat.

Aiming to do the StrathPuffer 24 hour in January on fat tyres so long as it isn't sheet ice.
