    Disk brake upgrade?

Anyone experience issues with either Avid/SRAM or Shimano hydro brakes in sub-freezing temperatures? I've read of issues with Shimano, and have not-so-good luck with Avid Elixrs in the past on my 29r...

Currently running BB7's and want something nicer...

    Thanks!

    Re: Disk brake upgrade?

This doesn't answer your question, but you could trry experimenting with different pads for your BB7s? It seems people have a strong preference for one type or another. Nice compressionless housing and a nice lever may be a nice upgrade, too. How many times can I say nice in one sentence?

Oh, I like my BB7's on 29r and Pugs, just looking for new brakes for my 616 Muenzie that I'll be building up soon... I could buy another set of BB7's... Or not...

I am putting xtr trail m988 brakes on my bucksaw. I have been using mineral oil brakes since 2003 in the winter. I rarely ride below 20F and only a couple times below 10F. I have had no problems in my riding with stuff freezing up

I've ridden down to almost 0F, here in Michigan... Not too often, but I want the ability to do so...

Folks discounting mechanicals? No hydro issues. We ride if it's "still", temp be damned

No issues with hydro brakes in subfreezing temps. Even on my car.

Touché. Never had problems w/car , or various hydros on bikes & studs, way subfreezing. Fattie folks w/ earlier versions used rational- lies to support Mechanicals v hydros. Wondering... Haven't seen any negatives during arctic jaunts. Just fatties killing skinny studded folks
