    Degreaser turning parts white! Help!

I was cleaning my Boris x9 bluto, and used some degreaser on the chain.

now anything that stuff touched is starting to haze over and turn a chalky white!!! The cranks, rear rim, derailer, Hub.

it all has this chalky white film that won't simply rub off.

Oh man, don't tell me you used THAT degreaser!

Sorry, hope the garage doesn't catch it too....

Try some 50/50 Simple Green to clean the white off.

Don't put Simple Green on anything that is unfinished aluminum.

Just use some WD on a rag and squeeze the chain with it while turning the cranks. That degreaser **** ain't for bikes.

dishwashing soap, water and a brush. The only time I used degrease is in a controlled environment (meaning part is taken off the bike) and diluted with water, usually for soaking, then good ole soap and water again.

    You're turning black metallic.

Thanks for picking up what I was putting down.

OP, without knowing what you used, pretty much every suggestion offered, is pointless.

You're in the military, and you used some super secret Pentagon developed stuff designed for removing packing grease from tank treads completely, in less that 5 seconds? Yeah, that could be the problem.

Simple Green, used and rinsed in a few minutes time? Unlikely.

Finish Line Speed Degreaser? Stuff evaporates before it could do anything.

On balance though, I also agree with ^Turd^, don't bother cleaning, just use a decent lube (and little enough of it) that doesn't develop into a giant gooey mass, and just ride it, don't look at it.....
