    Cycle computer in winter?

I currently use a garmin edge 800 on my bikes, but I read somewhere it is not very suitable for winter use. First: the battery is not up to temperatures far below zero (but with an external solar panel it might) and secondly, I features a touchscreen that is hard to operate with gloves on.

My question is: is there a solution for a cycle computer (preferably GPS based) that works in the winter?

I use my 60SCx year round.
Sadly anything that uses batteries in below zero weather is only gonna last so long.
At -20 I get about an hour out of my rechargeables. I did try lithium ions, but the 10-15 extra min; didn't seem worth it to me.

    Peace

I've been using a non-GPS Planet Bike Protegé 9.0 which has the usual issues with placing the sensor, but the battery life has been really good. The timer and thermometer are both accurate, but distance measurement varies greatly with tire pressure. I got a Garmin Edge 500 this spring (very accurate distance but terrible thermometer so far) and will be using both at the same time (dorky) this winter.

I have a garmin edge 705 that worked on some shorter rides last winter (less than 2 hours)
