Custom drilled spoke pattern fat rims?

The thread about the 64 spoke Phil Wood wheel brought up a question that has
been in the back of my mind for a while.

Does anyone know if any maker of fat bike rims has supplied or would be willing
to drill a rim for a custom spoke pattern or furnish a rim undrilled for spokes and
    undrilled for weight reduction?

A design that seems interesting to me can be found here:
    Design

    I like the Blade 48 design - 40 spokes.

I do not know enough about lacing and wheel strength to even guess how workable
this design may be, anyone have any thoughts?

If it helps, with such a spoke design, the wheel would only be used on the street/road.
I am very easy on tires and rims, have yet to bend a rim or break a spoke.

    Thanks in advance.
