Weight of Front wheels came in at 895 grams and rear at 1,117 grams. This is with DT Swiss Competition spokes, brass nipples and Hope Pro 2 hubs.

The next set will be made with I9 System build. We are testing for durability at the moment and confident we can drop another 200 grams...

    Schedule for August 2015 delivery.

    Atomik Carbon Fat Rim Peek....

How are they for tubeless setup? Any idea on cost? How about width? Looks like a good product.

Have these been stress tested or ridden hard in real world conditions? The profile is very different from other carbon rims I have seen..LESS material has me wondering about durability, thats all. Below is a 65mm carbon rim profile. How wide are these?

First, let me respond to the tubeless setup.....it could not have been any easier. We pumped them up with a floor pump and they held air without any sealant for about an hour. The tires also came off without any super effort and was done by hand.

The testing is going fine at the moment. We had a small problem , but that will be taken care of in the production run. The aerospace foam we use is very misleading and people often think of regular foam....this is structurally very stiff and bonds to the carbon fiber. The 12K weave adds additional stiffness as well. We tried it with the 3K weave and it was too flexy....

Durability is being tested now and we are confident it will be fine. Many companies use designs that are for smaller and stiffer tires. This is not necessary with a Fat Rim because the tire has so much "cushion" for lack of a better word. Our rim works in tandem with the tire....like a system approach. A tire that has 9 pounds of pressure does not require a super stiff rim......but if that is what certain manufacturers know how to build.....then that is what they will build.

    These are 85mm wide.

Looks like a pretty good setup to me! I like your theory on the slightly flexible rim when used with big ol' tires.

Ditto. I'll be a beta tester also.

What is the weight of rim only without spokes and hubs?

The first batch of samples we have came in around 538 grams. We should be able to lower to around 500 grams with ease....first run carbon rims are usually high.....

I am in Taipei next month attending the Taipei Cycle Show and will meet up with our partners to see the latest changes we made to this rim. I have asked them to speed things up and would like to bring a pair back with me ( along with our new 27.5 Plus rims as well). If everything looks good, the production order will be placed and we will have rims in stock by August. Just in time for Winter 2015.
