    2x9/10 chainring setup question: 40x28 or 38x26?

I'm going to be getting some 2x10 xt cranks for my singlespeed and will be putting the chainrings on my E13 snowbike crank arms.

In your opinion which rings should I choose 40x28 or 38x26?

    Thanks in advance dudes!

I was running my 3 ring crank with a 26T for a granny and a 36T in the middle position, no outer ring. I had a standard 12-34 cassette, and that combo worked very well even on long rooted and rocky climbs. I would steer you toward the smaller of the two (26/38).

    I'm with "deuxdiesel"...
For SNOW I didn't think I'd be big-ringing it much and went with a 26/36/bashgard set up and an 11-34 cassette.
38/26 should be a great set up

24-36 or 22-36, depending on the rear cassette arrangement. These things aren't about speed.

Pick the smaller one. The combination of heavy wheelset, soft snow and sand will rob you of your power. My new fat bike has 24/36 chainrings and a bashguard. I am not sure if I am going to stay with this setup. I might switch to 22/32/bashguard. I find this setup perfect on my 29er.

38X26. Its rare to get a fatbike into a 40X11. You will use a 38T a lot more often.
