    2014 Chequamegon 40

    Just received the email for 2014 Fat Tire 40/Short & Fat registration. It states:

    Fat Bike Competition Class -- By popular demand, an open fat-bike competition class has been added to both events for 2014. Fat bikes (a.k.a. snow bikes) will be defined as bicycles with a minimum 3.5 inch wide tires.

    Snow bikes?
    Remember, nobody knows. So let's find out...

    Booo to this. There should not be special classes based on bike ridden or weight. Where do we stop? Why not 29er, full suspension, cross bike, and super skinny classes? Ride what you brought. Separate scoring because your bike is different is ridiculous.

    I don't subscribe to the "brings more racers out" argument. First, the fat tire 40 is a lottery to get in. Second, I am willing to bet it simply shifts people's entry from regular to fatbike, not brings new people out.

    This coming from the guy who raced this race and "won" the non existent fat bike class in 2012 and was runner up in 2013.

    My observation was for the reference to "snow bike", but your time in 2013 was great. Beat my time by over 30 minutes and I was riding a full suspension 29er!
