120mm BBs - where are they?

Some of those Chinese frames are quoting 120mm BSA threaded BBs.

I've never heard of that size of BB before apart from the Ice Cream Truck (132mm on a PF41), that is press fit, so presumably different.

So where are those 120mm BSA threaded BBs? Who sells them or suitable cranksets for external cups?<script type="***************" src="safari-extension://com.ebay.safari.myebaymanager-QYHMMGCMJR/2eeeb70b/background/helpers/prefilterHelper.js"></script>

I wonder it the Race Face cranks for 190 frames would be the same? They run spacers that are 11.5mm externally on both sides and the 170 cranks run 1.5mm spacers externally on each side. So the 190 rf cranks with 1.5 mm spacers installed should equal 120mm bb?

Is that allowing for the BB cups?

I suppose if a crank fits an ICT then so long as the cups are no wider that 16mm each side that may work - but then the spindle has to be 24mm.

I've found this Fat Bike Crankset 170 42-32-24 120mm Bottom Bracket Included | eBay

I wonder if Surly intends to introduce a spindle - they are obviously going to have a longer one for the ICT.

I had discussions with RF regarding selecting the proper bb for my Bucksaw.

The Bucksaw uses a 121mm press fit BB shell, which is the same width as a 100mm BSA BB shell PLUS external BB cups.

So, either the Chinese company is including the BB cups for a 100mm shell, or they are talking about a still wider BB shell. Good luck getting clarification. You can always order one and measure it when it arrives.

The only length specific part of an external BB is the plastic tube that connects the two cups, so basically you can run any length BB for the type of crankset you have, without the tube.

I just installed the non Cinch RF Turbine(on a 100mm) and I'm pretty sure you could run it for a 120mm bike, less the tube for the BB and the large spacers on the spindle.

I have 120bb on my frame. I use Race face Turbine crank for 190 rear. You basically use a few small spacers between the threaded bottom bracket and the crank arms and it fits perfect.
