    Replace 14" tires

I need to get some mtb tires for my son's 14" but am a noob and not sure about sizing compatibility. He has 14 x 1.95 now. Can I swap to Kenda K50 14 x 2.125? What about 14 x 1.25? Thanks

You may be able to go bigger as long as you have clearance on your frame / fork.

In back, you'll want to look at:
    - How much space is there between the sides of the tire and the frame?
    - How much space is there between the front of the tire and the frame?

In front, you'll want to look at:
    - How much space is there between the sides of the tire and the fork?
    - How much space is there between the top of the tire and the fork?

Overall, if there's enough space to put your finger all the way around a 1.95" tire, you'll probably have room for a 2.125" tire.

We had good luck with the 14x1.90" Spawn Loamstar tires that came on our Yoji -- they have a bit better tread pattern than the Kendas and are likely lighter (but a bit more expensive):

The 14x2.1" Innova tires that Prevelo uses might be another good option:

Physically you can probably be able to go smaller as long as you're not going too small for your rims. Here's a rough guide:

1.25" is pretty narrow -- I'm not sure I'd recommend going that small unless you're only riding on pavement.
