Kids impact shorts that cover hips?

More than a couple of kids I know have taken nasty hits on their hip/upper hips as they laid the bike down. A buddy's kid riding with me just had it happen.

Had me wondering if there are any hip protection shorts similar to Leatts protective shorts for adults (the nicer model with raised hip protectors).

I'm almost tempted to just find some decent foam and have Nana sow it on to his TLD sprint shorts (she is a master quilter...time to put her to work).

Does the kids version come up a bit more to cover the upper pelvic bone circled below? Maybe nothing exists for kiddos but that is the area of injury I saw two of this week.

Looks like the football guys have it figured out. The bone is the Illiac Crest apparantly. Under Armor and Nike make some decent stuff I think.

There are on ebay, usually from china. Also, as previous msg, there's goalie pants with both knee and hip protection. As well as goalie shirts with shoulder protection. I've used different kinds of protection for my kids in d beginning, and with better cycling skills, especially learning how to fall, they drop the usage of protection on their own free will, depending on type of cycling we'll be doing.

I just saw these searching for their vests. Misses the thigh protection, maybe made for skiing, but they do have hip protection: https://www.komperdell.com/en/protec...php?id=6133_02
