    Interesting 12" / 14" / 16" bike on Aliexpress...

Was browsing around Alixpress and came across this beast today...
    Interesting 12" / 14" / 16" bike on Aliexpress...-hf34c4b46e9014c77ab78d253fc1df7b53.jpg

    Some of the highlights:
    • Magnesium frame / fork
    • Disc brakes
    • Rear shock
    • Internally routed cables
    • Built-in mudguards
    • Handlebars with QR-adjustable backsweep?????

Weight spec is 7kg for the 12" -- if that weight is accurate and includes the training wheels, I'm curious if it might be a decent platform to build off of....

Some of the potential issues I could see:
    • Hard to tell, but the handlebars in some shots look like they might be plastic? At the very least, part of the bar is some type of U-shaped extrusion.
    • Unknown wheel standards -- they seem to be attaching the brake rotors in an odd way, so it's hard to say if you could put in wheels with a standard disc hub
    • Doesn't look like adjustable drop-outs, which could make it difficult to change the gearing

This appears to be the same bike with more real-world photos:

We already have a 2 balance bikes, a 12" bmx, a 14" Yoji, and a heavily modified 16" Yoji, so I'm not sure that there's a real gap to fill in our garage at the moment, but there's a special sort of crazy about this that makes me interested in giving it a try...

While I'm not so sure about the build quality or the geometry (short reach / long chainstays), it's a lot of interesting ideas slapped together.

I'm always amazed at how much experimentation there seems to be from some of these Chinese companies - for as much as they get wrong, it's good to them putting a little focus on keeping weight down and trying new things.

There's something kind of absurd about the earnestness of the advertising too - trumpeting that the frame is wind tunnel tested and has a suspension good for riding over speed bumps and very small rocks.
