Brilliant October evening on ego dirt!

Taken in the Boise, Idaho, foothills. I love the mid-fall evening sunlight. Just a great ride with my 9 year old, who is really starting to like mountain biking!

That's fantastic! My son is 13 months old today & I am very much looking toward the day when he can ride the trails with me! My wife and I rode mammoth for a few days last month and I kep thinking that the only way it could be better is when our son can ride with us! There are far too many kids these days that would rather play video games than go explore on a mtb!

I think the key is NOT to push them into riding. I gradually eased my son into biking - first in a Burley trailer behind my road bike when he was 3, then onto an Adams trail-a-bike on dirt at 4, easy trails with training wheels at 5, the same trails without training wheels at 6 or 7, and only recently on some more challenging trails this summer at 9. He's on his first 26" wheeler too, which has helped his riding and confidence immensely. I had more fun planning and building his bike than I think I've ever had with any of my own bike builds. Whether he sticks with it long term is his choice (and I limit his Wii time), but it is nice that he will go riding willingly and has fun. The stop for ice cream post-ride helps too! You'll be there sooner than you know it - when your 13 month old is my son's age, mine will be gone to college (hopefully) so enjoy every moment while you can!
