    20" Hotrock Brake Swap Help

My son has a 20" Specialized Hotrock. The brakes need to be replaced, the part that holds the cable broke. I am looking for an economical fix, he just rides with me on the roads, nothing extreme.

Is there a more economical alternative than Avid Single Digit 5 brakes with Avid Speed Dial 7 Levers?

    Thanks in advance.

Which part that holds the cable? You likely don't need to replace everything. A picture would help.

I'd suggest a Shimano Deore V brake as an affordable but effective replacement.
