Evil Following bearing replacement; order a main pivot kit too...

First frame bearing replacement this week @ 2 years, 2 months and 2,700 miles. Results:

-Both flip chip bearings completely seized
    -Upper linkage bearings very crunchy
    -Main pivot bearings very crunchy
-Main pivot axle and spacers - shot

I had the bearings in inventory, but not the main pivot kit. Won't be making that mistake again. Drive side spacer was completely shot and corrosion (galvanic?) made the main pivot axle unusable. For reference, riding wet trails in my area will get you lynched, so this bike has only seen a wet trail a few times. I can also count the number of times this bike has seen a wet wash in the single digits. And every wash is followed up with a towel and compressed air dry off. Bike was super noisy before the bearing swap, quieter after. Now it is the seat I hear (always something). Noticeable improvement in suspension performance, esp. over smaller rocks and roots.

    Thanks for the picture!

Tried to get the main pivot out of my 2 year old Following a couple of weeks ago and couldn't get it to budge. Used a hammer and socket the size of the pivot shaft and hit it hard enough that it popped my press-fit bottom bracket out of the frame. Decided my bearings were good enough and gave up before I broke something.

So my question is, how did you remove your main pivot? I am assuming that mine is corroded like yours, and it makes sense now why it didn't want to come out after seeing your pictures.

If you are not careful with compressed air around pivots, hubs, bearings, it will blow water right past any seals and get it into all kinds of places you don't want. Actually, just using it anywhere near those areas is asking for trouble. Best to just let it air dry.
