Small things that make a difference

I had a decent year racing in the master class and would like to do better next season. I am pretty fit and have a pretty decent Downhill. I notice that on the higher speed and less techy, but still rough terrain, I am not as fast as others. I can usually win my class but when I do not its on the above mentioned sort of stage that I get beat.
I am curious about things to work on over the winter and maybe some other fitness things to take into consideration.

    Thanks, Ryon
If you do something often enough it tends to define you.

Try doing some xc races here and there. Do some specific interval workouts. High cadences always help. Be light on the pedals. Don't worry so much about going super fast. Just focus on being smooth. Concentrate on braking less, braking before the turn and releasing that brake lever throughout the turn, this will give you more exit speed. That's what you want. Look as far down the trail as possible. Hitting up the gym will work a bit too. Work out your core. Hope some of these help. Intervals always work but hurt.

Do a couple of XC races. Even making up numbers in the slow category is a good way to force yourself to push for a bit.

Also spend some time at a pump track and practice making the most of the terrain to gain/maintain speed efficiently.
