    GX Eagle experiences

I just had a 3 week old GX Eagle mech die horribly whilst pedalling in a muddy mess. The bottom jockey wheel cracked and the chain got jammed in the device causing it to twist backwards and end up all twisted and stuffed.

Is this a freak occurrence? Or is this stuff super fragile/flimsy? I've got some biggish stuff planned over the next 7 months and I want the bike as reliable as I can get it.

Go check out the Eagle Problems thread under drivetrain.....looks like this isn't isolated.

Not a complete isolated event. I had the chain pack with mud and jump off the 11. Stopped pedaling and saved it.
Friend on the same mud ride sucked a stick up and cracked the lower pulley.
Not really a specific sram problem either. Shimano will do the same if you pack enough mud in the chain or jam a stick in the works.

Some guys have luck with aluminum pulleys.
Making shit harder than it needs to be isn't awesome, it's just...harder.

I think the lower pulley issue is related to it being narrow wide.

I replaced my eagle GX derailleur (broke 2 the dame way, jammed chain in pulleys, snapped inner cage) with a 11speed XO1 and all 12 gears including the 50t work perfectly....

Yeah? Thats good news. I wish SRAM did an 11-46 or something 11spd cassette. I'd just go back to 11spd if they did.

A mate of mine just had his 12spd GX Eagle mech jam the same way mine did, plus there's threads on UK and Euro forums about the same problem. What a ****in joke.

See my sig. Plenty of XD choices in 11-speed with more range. 11-46 actually isn't one of them, it's about the same as the 10-42.

Awesome work mate. Do you know if the 11spd SRAM mechs can go up to a 46T cog?

Was talking to the guys at the shop about the gx rd snapping. Said they don't see the same failures in the xo eagle rd. Not sure if that is across the board everywhere but cheaper than a new drivetrain.
