Presented by Heartland Sports Promotions

For 2005, our theme is "dirt lovin' good times".* The more we travel around the country and race long events, the more we like 'em and think you will too.* These events are more about finishing than finishing 1st, and will test your abilities and your resolve, but the pride of accomplishment quickly outweighs the temporary pain.* All finishers* will receive a t-shirt and all the top finishers will be rewarded for their effort.

*(For Spoke Pony Showdown, a rider must ride 2 laps to receive the finisher t-shirt, and for Rapture in Misery, a rider must ride 3 laps to receive the finisher t-shirt.)

For 2005, our events will not be a series.* Instead, each one is a stand alone epic event. However, all riders who finish all four events will receive special recognition in the form of an "I SURVIVED" shirt, photo on the website, and still to be determined prizes. The “Dirt Lovin’ Good Times Tour” consists of the Spoke Pony Showdown 3/6 and Rapture in Misery 6/12 as relay races and Crowderfest and Rock Creek Ruckus as epic rides with short and long course options.

After 5 years, 25 races and over 4200 racers/participants, the Heartland Mountain Bike Championship Series bids a fond farewell.* We have decided to take things in this new direction, and we thank you all for making the ride fulfilling and most enjoyable.* This year is all about good times and just lovin’ being on a bike.

For those of you still craving traditional cross country racing, we encourage you to check out the Midwest Fat Tire Series.* These guys have been around a long time and have some exciting things planned for this year also: http://midwestfattireseries.com* In addition, the St. Louis gang continues their long tradition of mtb fun.* You can find info on their events at:* http://stlbiking.com

Please keep checking our website for ongoing updates at http://www.heartlandrace.com.

The wheels are rollin'.* The dirt is flyin’.* Hang on and enjoy the ride!

We'll see you all out in March for the start of another fantastic year.

To be eligible for the finisher t-shirt, riders must personally ride at least 2 laps.

We promise that the course will be challenging, fast, and above all else FUN. That is guaranteed. The average lap time will be around 45 minutes with plenty of double-track and the usual Landahl gems thrown in.

The trails at Landahl are fairly technical trails w/ rocks and mostly short-up climbs. The course will be a 9+ mile loop containing a mix of double track, flowy single track, and technical single track. This year's course will be similar to the 2004 Rapture in Misery course with a few changes to make the course as easy as possible since we'll all still be shaking the cobwebs out of our legs

*Of course, this is all subject to change depending on factors outside of our control.
