New question here. What size tyres to fit a Joker?

Hi Guys, first post on the forum... I'm building up a Joker SL frame and am trying to decide on which tyres to run. The questions is what's a good big tyre that will fit in the swingarm? I'm thinking Conti Gravity 2.3 (should be fine) but would a Diesel 2.5 fit?

Any other sugesstions for big tyres that roll ok for the summer appreciated.

    Cheers

    What year Joker?

A 2.35 blue groove (they are large for a 2.35) was a tight squeeze on mine. The Conti Gravity 2.3 is a good bit smaller so there should be no problem, but no way on the 2.5.
    Nothing to see here.

    It's the current model, 03/04, I guess.

I had the 03 swingarm on mine and a 2.4 is the max it would take.

I've got a '03 Isis and it took a 2.4 WTB. I've got a 2.35 Nevegal in the back now, no issues at all.

Is there any difference between 03 and 04 swingarms?

That probably because it is not truely a 2.4" tire. Look at shiggy's tire site to get info on actual sizes.

The Nevegal 2.35 came in at 2.39 and the Blue Groove 2.35 was 2.41, which is why I responded saying that a 2.4 was the max tire width it would take. Anything wider would have rubbed.

WTB 2.4 info - the 2 shiggy measured were actually 2.36 and 2.09 at the widest point

I used the Motoraptor, which, if I'm reading that right, he measured at 2.36. I wore this tire down in about 6 months, BTW, of heavy use on the rear.

I have the 7" travel Joker and I have a 2.4 motoraptor on the back with lots of room to spare.

Thanks for all the input guys; shiggy's tire site is really useful.

I'd pretty much decided on Panaracer Cinders until I got to the bike shop to pick up my wheels and got a good price on some Tioga DH 2.3s which fit nicely with room to spare and do the job so far, at least on the ride to work (first ride).

    Cheers
