    Road Trip Kiwi Photos

Been a bit quite lately welcome relief for some and nightmare to others!

Anyways been on vacation, course a road trip was in order and this meant stacks of riding in hobit country yeahhaa, loved every minute and didn't really want to come back, awesome scenery, hot weather, stunning lakes and rivers to swim, life dosen't get much better this!

Course the mandatory technology problems occurred, no not the bike T homers but the darn digi camera and laptop, so didn't get all the pics I would have liked, course no power for most of the trip didn't help either.

Mode of transport was the Mobile home 7m truck unit, trailer, the ID was the choice for this trip other bike is the drivers, I got to sit back and parooze the country side!
Course no road trip would be complete with other toys so a high wind board for windsurfing the lakes 5.0m & 6.0m2 sails for when it was to hot to ride and the wind was good! and we were off.

    1: Toys
2: First stop lake Artimuri, no riding just a stop over but nice!
3: Pics of one of my fav locations Wanaka, theres been some DVD stuff form Drop in from this area it rocks theres something here for everyone, North Shore style to all mountain, XC, stunt and beyond.

More pics to come have some 200+ to sort, more to follow as I get it sorted!

    Jealousy in the Northern Hemisphere....

We drove through Wanaka last March. Looked like great mtb country. I miss summer. Enjoy!

Cannot believe your were down under and did not make contact with us. Not good. Only joshing. TrailAdvent is even making me envious. I am at present moving to be based in Spain for my job. No bike. TrailAdvent is packing it into a box to get it on DHL for me. Am hanging out to ride, so much travel lately, no riding.

    Quite on the forums

    Yeah, totally...
As I scrolled quickly down the screen I was just thinking that it reminds me of the high desert riding on the Eastern side of the Cascade Mtns here in Washington and Oregon.

Yo Trailadvent, what's the word on that suspension seatpost ?

Shes a Gravity Dropper, not a suspension sp and its the shizzz, highly recommend one if trail Ride, All Mountain.

Definitely go for the remote option though not the one I had, the remote option you'll use constantly plus there is no play in the which the knob version seems to suffer from plus my buddy Momentus has broken too of those models, but Ive had no probs.

    Good job! Hanmer trails

    trailadvent,

where are those trails in Hanmer? Are they toward the cemetary or straight out of town? Are they all legal? They look sweet....and so close to CHCH...

    Awesome photos...by the way..

Do any end up down by the river?

I mtbiked there many years ago...but no longer live in NZ...but go back every year

    Cheers,

Trails are all legal, part of the new newtork up there, they run from the south western side of town back across the highway towards the west coast which takes you directly above the township (allot of climbing involved all good though) which leads you back to the main trails like dog stream etc, ya cover a fair bit of terrain but its worth it, single track with a few fire roads in between.

Worth a trip back there sometime and course the hotpools really finish off a hardride, most of the outdoor shops or the visitors centre right out side the hotpools have maps so pretty easy from there, I'll scan my map sometime and post it up here!

    Enjoy, where ya living know.

    Trails sound/look sweet!

Yeah I remember doing some hillclimbing back toward the molesworth station, and some singletrack on the way back...but not as good as that in your pics!

Anyways, one day I'll be back, looks like NZ is becoming a mtbiking mecca more and more..

I live in the San Francisco Bay area now, but I may come back to NZ at some stage this year to see family for a couple of weeks...looks like I'll need to bring my bike!

    Cheers
