Was a great two days riding. For those not from these parts, we had flooding all over the North Island of New Zealand more or less. We stopped in Taupo, central North Island, because the road was closed through to Hawkes Bay. We stopped for a ride at craters of the moon in Taupo, this terrain is quite pumice like, so you never knew it had rained. A good spot to ride, some great technical switchback singletrack mammoth climbs ans some yeah ha tech downhills.

The ride at Eskdale was great, real mountain biking, no fully groomed tracks, it was sticky and very wet, although the weather on the day was sensational. I have to say, the ID blew me away again, man can this thing climb on greasy steep climbs, it jusy has bulk traction. This was a great area to ride, but one needs to have a local yocal for the first time, not a matter of gettign lost, but just not sign posted like a freeway.

    Good shots TrailAdvent...

You guys make me jealous. Not only do you live in one of the most beautiful parts of the world you are heading into summer. I write this as the rain poors down and the tempertures drop.

I was thinking the same thing...a rich man could live in perpetual spring/summer with a vacation home in the Southern Hemisphere. Time to start playing that lottery!
