    Dented top tube

Brand new Truth, unbuilt frame, neighbor amazed at how light frames was, and squeezed top tube. Now I have a barely noticable divit in frame. Should this happen or should I be worried about a bad tube batch (weak). I called Ellsworth and they said it's not designed for this kind of pressure. But it was HAND pressure! Anyone else have this happen.

Happened from a tailgate rack clamp, yes. Happened from a strong hand grip, no.
In the middle of the tubes, where the least amount of stress is, it's shocking how thin the tubing is.
The dented top tube ( a friend's) referred to above has been ridden hard ever since, including some very aggressive XC racing. No problems. Still sucks on a new bike, though.

So did Ells say you could ride it like that? I doubt that it would fail since the TT is not an area of great stress. But if it's near the seattube or headtube, I might be worried.

I had the same thing happen to a Orbea frame that was made of starship. It pissed me off everytime I looked at it but never failed in the vast amounts of miles I put on it.

    It will be fine

For butted tubing you would be amazed at how thin it is in the middle, I had a brake lever dent the top tube of my truth in a wreck, and I used it for over 5 years without ever a problem.. I would say you are OK.. Just sucks from a new frame and hand tension

Dude has a “kung Fu grip” He musta went blind at an early age
