    whos ready for the Newt!

    Whos ready?......not me !
First full year of expert (did the last two races last season in expert to get a taste). 30k rail trail today and nothing but burning legs. Still excited for the season.

I gave up the sport overall to do the last 2 races to get a feel for that 4th lap. It wasnt as bad as I thought. I started back of the pack a d stayed out of peoples way, maybe abit to passive. I did work my way up to a decent place.

I'm hoping I'm ready...ish. This is my first year doing O'cups...so my bricks are substantial. Tried the Sudbury O'cup last year...more to hang out with friends...but I liked it enough to get the proper license and register this year. Starting in Master Sport. I've switched to 40Creek Light to get ready.

I'll probably go up Saturday to pre-ride. Never ridden Newt.

There's not really any camping close by I can think of. Closest would be 30 minutes away: Cedar Beach Park, Grangeways Trailer Park, or a little further still is Bare Oak Naturist Park if that's your style. No hotels closer than 30 minutes drive either.

Thanks. Guess it'll be a drive up Saturday to pre-ride and back Sunday to race.
Unless...is it wrong to wonder if any of the female racers will be staying at Bare Oak??

Ouch!! Wife just kicked me again...

    Not Ashley Madison, just eM-Tee-Bee-aRe.
Nuke the entire site from orbit. It's the only way to be sure.

No worries. I didn't take your note any more seriously than you should take mine (it wasn't intended as a "moderator-ish" post).

Rode an abbreviated version of the course last night for the Thursday race series. It is dry! Sandy in a few spots, slightly damp in a few, and dusty elsewhere. With little to no rain in the forecast you're not going to need much in the way of tread.

Went for a pre ride this morning. It is very dusty in there, but I guess it is better than very muddy.

As I was riding behind Neil, my handlebars started twisting in the stem. Scary when going faster. At least it happened in the pre ride.
    My rides:
    Lynskey Ti Pro29 SS
    RM Suzi Q 90 RSL
    KHS Team 29
    S-Works Roubaix
    KHS CX 550 cyclocross

It was nice meeting you on the Saturday Riot. Another awesome race report. Ugly Up is an awful climb at the best of times if it's the one I am thinking of in the DH section. I saw a bunch of people trying to figure it out on my ride. It would be tough at race pace for sure.

Yes, always great to put a face to a name! And yes, Ugly Up is aptly named!
