New question here. Wheelbuilders in the GTA

Anybody here able to recommend a shop that does good wheelbuilds/truing in the GTA?

The closer to Brampton, the better.

Also, what should I expect to pay for a build, not including the parts?

    Thanks for your suggestions!

    Wheel building

Try Bike Zone in Mississauga (Clarkson).

They used to have an old Italian guy that did all the wheels, and he was amazing. Not sure if he is still there, but worth giving thema call: -

    The Bike Zone
    239 Lakeshore Rd.
    E. Mississauga, Ont
    905 278 5573

    Good luck,

I know it may sound odd, but it's true. I had my wheels built by their wheelbuilder, and older fella, Louie (by older, I just mean he's not a 25 year old, like most of their shop staff. He's not really old, maybe 45ish). I got them built at different times, and both wheels had the same consistency of build. Very stiff and true. I don't think I had to re-tension or true them more than 1 time each in the last 2 years or so I've had them. They were a heavy duty set, built using 14ga. spokes and F519 rims. I've ridden them hard, and they have performed flawlessly.
Just make sure you ask to talk to Louie when you go in, and have him go over the details with you, and that he's the one that will do the build. They have some other less than stellar mechanics in there.... As far as I can remember, the charge was $35 per wheel.

Louie at Sporting life is a good mechanic and he'll build you a solid pair of wheels, better get in there fast as he'll be really busy with x-mas coming up, they also tune ski's/snowboards... if you can't get him to do it, try Wheels of Bloor, Raddic is the man there and he'll lace up anything you want, he's a very good mechanic as well
