    Torrance Barrens/Buckwallow

Staying in Gravenhurst all weekend. Going to ride both trails. It's supposed to rain on one day so, which of the two places is better to ride when wet?

Bold move... The bugs will be remarkably thick right now. Buckwallow would be my choice, with less standing water nearby.

Buck & Barrens both ok in rain

Actually the bugs haven't been bad at all ....so far! Blackflies are swarming a bit in some places but not biting yet. Still too early for skeeters and deer flies. I would say both venues are fine in the rain as far as riding goes. I prefer the Barrens on a sunny day personally, somehow overcast days are more pleasant in the forest for me than wide open skies like the Barrens. More sheltered from wind and rain too. Beware that the bridges at Barrens are really sketchy now, with the Pine Lake Loop signed as closed, although peeps still hike and ride it regardless....

I'm in love with this area. The Barrens was quite unique, there's no place like it. Rode it on Saturday, when it was sunny. Water was high, so there were some wet spots. Knee-high at one point.
Buckwallow was more like an, "extreme Albion Hills with no climbs". That was Monday, so it was a wet-rainy day. Pretty slick, so I only lasted about an hour. Will definitely return for a longer ride in dry weather.
The owner of Buckwallow is super nice and appreciative. He even gave me a sticker.

PS: Blackflies were pretty bad at Torrence Barrens. Par for the course considering all that standing water, but well worth it.
