For those organizing Don Valley rides or meet-ups

I have created some Google Maps shortcuts you can use to share meeting places:

MTBR prohibits using url shorteners, it seems, so here's what to do. Start with "http://" as usual. Then add "bit" then a period. Then "ly" and a "/". That makes "http://" and "" Then put the keywords you see in the list above. Presto, you will have a google maps location for each of these common meeting places. Example, the popular "Loblaws Trailhead" is http:// + bit + . + ly + / + loblaws_trailhead.

Pottery Road is closed for construction until September. I haven't been out there since it was closed, so I don't know if it is still possible to get to that parking lot.

Personally, I prefer the small parking lot located between Don Mills Road and the DVP. Good access to the DVP and it provides for a several great out and back loops:

You can't miss that lot! I usually don't meet folks there because I find the arrangement a little awkward. You have parking on one side of what is either a road or a cycling trail, so it can feel a little busy with people rushing by at all times. It's way easier for a group to mill about admiring each other's bling over on the Cricket Lot side or on the other side of the DVP in what I call the "East Don Lot."

But those are just personal sentiments. For those who want to meet there, I give you the shortcut "std_lot," named for the trail that begins on its East side.
