    Sram in MEC toronto

    I went to MEC yesterday and noticed that they are now selling sram RD X9 and X7 for only $89 and $60. Price comparable with ordering online. Anyway, I got myself a nice looking fleece and a pair of new poles.

    In speaking with a guy at MEC here in Ottawa, he indicated that they will be getting X.0 twisters, but not X.0 RDs. Since the X.0 would go for at least $180CDN vs $90CDN for the X.9 RD, I guess they figured the mass will buy X.9s instead.

    Personally, after trashing my X.0 RD on a branch during a fatefull Fall afternoon and needing an immediate replacement for the Thanksgiving long weekend, I was thankful to find the X.9 at MEC because:
    (a) the price was great;
    (b) the RD was in stock; and
    (c) it's MEC!

    If any other shops had one, the price was not close to $90.

    It's nice to see that MEC is now stocking RDs and shifters (soon), along with the line of SRAM chains and cassettes.

    yeah...thats some good old-fashioned competition from the bigger online stores...bikeroom has the x.9 for 84 bucks...but with shipping it ends up being the same - and..you dont have to wait for it to come in the mail and no hassles with bad service from the online stores
