Spring Epic 8 Hour at Mansfield

    Anyone doing this event?

No chatter on here about it. Or any of the races for that matter. I miss that.
    I love riding my bike!

The wife and I are both doing it solo, a training race for us ... and no intention of being anywhere near the front so be kind when passing!!!

I just popped on here to see if there was any chatter as well..

I'm there...solo...cuz I like pain, don't have many friends, and like to ride forever-ish...such is my life.

osteo, are you and your wife training for a specific upcoming event?

Haha! I hear you, pretty much the same here, not many friends that like to ride as long as I do!

    Yup, my first 24hr, Golden Two-Four: June 18 - 19, 2016 - Golden24.ca
She's doing the 8hr out there, so may focus her efforts on 5-6hrs in Sat.

Oh, man, that is awesome!! I will be doing the 24hr here at Albion, but I was seriously considering doing the Golden 24; then driving up to Whitehorse to do the 24hr there the next weekend 25th/26th (The Whitehorse 24 is a No Lights event!)...just couldn't find anyone to join me!

    Good luck out there!

Whitehorse 24?.. No lights.. Damn that would have been cool! We are headed down to Fernie after Golden for some relaxing riding! (If I can still move!).

Try not to pass me too fast on Sat! I'll be on the Green & Black Niner with a Lefty!

that sounds like a fun and awesome event! Will have to keep that on the radar!

Looking forward to tomorrow, haven't done an 8hr in a few years so will be fun to see friends and hang out in between laps! It's our first family team! Craig, his son and me and his daughter is our support crew/cheerleader/team manager! We will be in Raptors jerseys LET'S GO RAPTORS!!

Gotta love the weather forecast! went from 23C and a little rain to 18C and 80% at 2pm, but less than 1mm if it actually falls... maybe it will be a mist! here's hoping as I did not change my rear tire to something a little more aggressive!

Will keep my eye out for the Raptors!

Mansfield is so dry and sandy, that a little wet will make it faster and tackier!

Hey Riot, went well, thanks for the suggestion on not changing my tire you were right on how dry it was there, Pretty sure I was blowing dirt out of my nose yesterday still!

I think I saw you once but then you were gone!

It was a good day, my lap times varied somewhat which consistency was my goal but my lower back was just fried all day and that made it difficult.

    How was your day?

Here's a video of the first lap if you want to re-live the experience. We all had a great time, kids, adults, cheerleaders...going for the win next year

I had a bad crash on the first lap, about 15 minutes in. Think I broke a couple of ribs (off to the doc today to make sure.) Struggled heavily after that, but managed 12 laps...

Yes....a couple of steep climbs made it tough on the power muscles...especially in the lower back. But if you are headed to Golden, I don't imagine it will be very flat there!

12 laps and some possible broken ribs?! Damn man, you're a machine!!

Yes, Golden... I'm back to debating if I want to drop down to the 8hr... Lots of factors to consider.

Good luck with the ribs, I've treated people over the years with broken/bruised ribs, never a pleasant experience to have them.
