skytop beer event has been cancelled due to lack of interest in mountain biking. I feel so sad.

I think the event had a couple things going against it.
    1. It was an 19+ event, which makes it difficult for people with families.
    2. It was competing with the Uxbridge Fall Fair, which is a big deal around here.

Too bad, Skytop is a really cool place to ride and spend time hanging out.

I blame the "Picard effect" for this event being cancelled.

I don't think its lack of interest in mountain biking but lack of interest in "events" Mountain biking is about getting away from it all, so why would you want to pay a fee (to ride trails that you probably ride for free normally) to ride with hundreds of other riders?

This is a private property. It isn't in Durham forest but near it by 5 minutes
