    Porcupine Ridge No More..

So apparently Santas Village in Bracebridge has changed owners, and the new owners have decided to put an end to the Porcupine Ridge trails. (which are on their property). Done. No more. Closed. Ex-Trails.

    Just an FYI..

Any update to this? Will the trails be open this year? I see they are no longer on Trailforks and they say the trails have been closed by the new owner??

Just because it's on Strava doesn't mean its a legal trail or open.

    From Porcupine Ridge facebook page.

"Porcupine Ridge trail opening 2018 will be postponed due to a insurance issue. A solution is in the works and we hope to have the trails open sometime in June. Please respect the land owner and stay off trails until further notice."

    Word on the street here...

is that the landowner has just agreed to a 5 yr deal, allowing Porcupine Ridge Trails to carry on

    Is it back open yet?

Finding information is proving to be tricky, unless I'm blind. There is a post on the Facebook page from May 27th showing new signs (I thought it was already signed?), but no mention if the place is actually open or not.

The entire area is still marked as closed on TrailForks.

The Facebook post from May 27th was about new trails being built by the club at Bracebridge Resource Center.

Porcupine Ridge is still closed. The paper work is taking longer than expected. We are becoming incorporated to settle a insurance issue.

Is that the area on the east side of Hwy 11?

OT: I assume you're the same mxzx121 on OC? :-)

Any updates? We are biking in the area on August long weekend and hoping to do Porcupine Ridge if it's open.

Aside from Buckwallow, is there any other similar riding nearby? At Buckwallow, we like the 3 to 5 hoof rated trails.
Mountain bikers are generally a rational bunch...until someone moves a rock on our favorite trail and we lose our minds - LMN

Porcupine Ridge is still closed. But...MORCA has been building new trail at the BRMC, and these guys like technical riding so expect that. The trail head is on Holiday Park Dr. directly across hwy 11 from the MNR office north of Bracebridge. It's the 1st right after crossing the north branch Muskoka River bridge going north on 11. Probably 10 - 15 minutes north of Buckwallow
MORCA = Muskoka Off Road Cycling Association. They are on Facebook for more info

Anything in the works? Was up to Buckwallow again on the weekend and it'd be great to extend it to a full day of biking in the area.

Yep. Insurance still not sorted, not likely to open this year considering how late it is in the season.
Hopefully all sorted by next season

    Thanks. I hope so.

Buddies and myself really like riding in there and when put together with Buckwallow, makes for a great entire day of riding.

Meanwhile MORCA ( Muskoks Off-Road Cycling Association ) has been building new trails at BRMC. I hear great reviews of Gnarnia & Crazy Goat in particular from the guys that like the very tech riding. The green trail running beside those has a very fun downhill bomb to the south end parking lot. ALso the outside loop along the river while not technical is very scenic!

So catch Buckwallow before they close end of the month, then drive 15 minutes north to BRMC and check it out!
