I hopeful for that posted opening date but would be surprised considering how much snow is still on the hill. Spring temps creeping in at a snails pace isn't helping either.
    Can't wait though !!

Temps are up and the snow is going fast. There is very little snow off of the ski trails but the areas are very wet.

Blue officially opened today. Runs were very wet. Otherwise temps were perfect. And all riders seemed very happy.

    Loading the bikes

Georgian Bay water level appeared low.... more than usual sand bars. There was a big unmelted patch of ice half way up near Showcase

    At the top

Runs were fun/ Runs were dryer at the top. Collector was muddy in spots

Here's me shreddin. I was noticeably faster, I think all the hard work over the winter paid off. I love the bermy sections on the Intermediate trails
    the official blue mountain thread-p5260225_zps8751b88d.jpg

    Here's singlesprocket owning the run

We had a blast. Bumped into some familiar riders. Felt stoked by the end of the day. Wished we could have stayed til closing. Can't wait for next weekend

The Bay is very low this year. Sounds like the lower anyone has ever seen. It's flowing out the St. Clair into Lake Michigan.

Drove up to Parry Sound last weekend it's shocking to see how low it is. I feel for the cottage and business owners affected.

There were a lot of exposed sand bars, and the shore looked, from our view point, very shallow.

probably a cumulative effect from previous low precipitation winters and summers. could take a couple of years for the water levels to go back up. lots of for sale signs up also on the bigger properties i've noticed...

According to the website, 5 /16 trails are open today at Blue. Fresh Air, The Ridge, Raison Run and Embryo. Temp a little cool but c'est la vie! We've ridden in colder weather

Singlesprocket and I are heading up for the afternoon ride today and again tomorrow all day.

I went today. A bit muddy but got better when I left around 4. Overall, dry enough to let loose a bit. I'm going back again tomorrow, and it should be near perfect by then.

They've opened Ochute back up this year? I remember going last summer and it was closed for the entire season because of erosion.
I'm heading to blue on the monday after the 24 hour race for some shakedown runs. It will be the first week where they are open 7 days, hoping the lift lines will be short and that all the runs will be open. Also hope my legs won't be completely toast from the 24, it's always a ton of pedaling at blue.

Some trails like Ridge and Grab Bag were muddy (slippery!) and we got dirty

Riders unanimously agreed Raison and Fresh Air were fast and bermy!

These pics were taken near the upper and much drier section of the Ridge.

Bigger turnout of riders Sunday... there is quite a buzz about the changes/improvements to the trails.

We arrived at blue mid day, and saw the big turn out for Met Con Blue. The organizers did a good job to avoid any interference by re-routing the Collector

2 solid days of riding... we'd be heading up today, if it did't rain! Embryo, raisin run and fresh air were dry. Grab Bag soggy and Ridge was a mud bog at the top. Steady flow of riders

There is major construction work being done on the trails in the south side (both on trails and prep for skiing). The focus is to get Haole open soon. It will become a black diamond run and a skills assessment required for anyone riding it

The black diamond trails will be Grab bag (which is open now) Haole and Waterfalls (which is not open yet)
Singlesprocket and I have been speaking with trail crew members and lifties and they report that because there is so much work being done on bike trails and ski trails that the trails near the gondola may or may not be ready this year.

Squeaker (my favorite second to grab bag) and Big Sleaze may be affected by the construction (they are installing another lift and preparing a new trail which affects some trails) so they may need to do a reroute to open those trails. We did not hear anything about Ochute /Shotglass opening. Showcase does not look like it will be opening

There are changes to Embryo (nice steeper, flowy sections near the top), Raisin and Fresh Air have improves (awesome switchbacks and berms... you can really fly!) Ridge and Grab bag remain the same

Singlesprocket and I took Friday off work and headed for blue!
    What a great day
More trails opened (O-chute and Shotglass) O-chute has a slight reroute and like Grab Bag and The Ridge still muddy in sections. The best and most popular trails are Raison, Fresh air and Embryo.

    Here's Singlesprocket popping it

There was a huge wedding taking place that I checked out. The decorations were the most beautiful I've ever seen. The colourfully dressed lady wedding guests carried red umbrellas

The groom rode in on this white horse while musicians beat drums and the guests sang and cheered when the bride arrived! It was spectacular! The riders all talked about wanting to eat at the buffet!

    Summer solstice fun!

Singlesprocket shot the video of Raison Run on Friday. Raison is considered an intermediate trail which is fast and flowy. There are a few spots to catch air and currently it is the driest trail. If ever you are planning to go to blue... PM or email Singlesprocket. He would be happy to provide you with more information

It was a hot one today!. 36C with humidex. Appropriately it was Salsa day in the village

    We got there early

Shotglass and OChute were open. Riders were enjoying all the trails which are drying up nicely

Singlesprocket and I got 10 runs in each! I did Grab Bag 4 times! It was sweet

I find that the POP% screws me over most of the time. I just look at the radar and make my decision from there.

Downhill will be open this Canada day right? Stupid question, as the gondola is open for hiking according to their site.

You guys need a better photographer

Weather permitting, I might be up there this weekend. Got my full-face from Jenson so I'm running out of reasons not to pick-up my pass and shred some revamped trails!

That's what you get for a pocket camera... The nice thing is it fits easily in the camelbak and it's robust

Now for serious pics I would like:

and then I'd need a good pack to lug that equipment around.. preferably it should offer some spine protection

The Crumpler make a nice one

I got one at the Bike Show no way I'll pay full-price for anything at Blue! haha
Totally depends on the weather, it's not worth the drive for me if it's going to be wet up there. Let's see how it goes! I'm itching to see the work done on the trails.

The assessment consisted of 2 tests. 1st part was riding the wood berm with control. Then pushing back up and riding off the drop and the following jump in control. Took me less than 5 minutes to do with no one else in line. The instructor admitted it was designed to be easy to pass for intermediate riders. But new riders who are uncomfortable when their tires leave the ground or are sketchy in the air will most likely not be passed.

I was up on Sunday with my wife. We had a great day even with only a few trails open. I was worried that since only the blue trails at the south end were open that all the fast riders would be barrelling down at us and intimidating my wife who is new to the dh side of things. But she had a great time and we appreciated that when we pulled to the side to let faster riders by, most people asked if we were ok or thanked us for letting them by.
I couldn't believe how busy the gondola was with the regular non-bike passengers. When we left around 5 the line extended up the stairs, almost into the village.

JRB covered the main aspects for the assessment. I 'll just add that the assessor is looking for comfort level when riding off camber and especially comfort level when airborne

The test does not take long and it's a pass or fail

Cycleicious, looking at your pictures I think I ran into you at the bottom of Grab Bag on Sunday. You were stopped before the drop in to the bridge on Collectors and I commented about how muddy Grab Bag was. That was such a fun, sketchy run on Sunday. Surprised they opened it while it was still that wet.

That was me! Singlesprocket and I did the Haole assessment and Grab Bag had just opened. It was very greasy in sections...I slid out on one of the steeps and my whole left side was coated in mud ! When i got to the top of the collector, I heard someone behind me and I pulled over to let them pass. So that must have been you! Sounds like you had a good day

    Can it really be true?

Koneil from Blue just posted this over in the Pink-Palace.

"The announcement you've all been waiting for! We're pushing to have everything open for this weekend, barring any last-minute setbacks!"

One month after the car accident and I have been cleared to go mountain-biking. ....just don't think the doc knows what my type of mountain-biking entails.... Maybe I can make it up this weekend, ride teh grampa trails (Blues) and get my Haole pass....

Looking forward to hitting Haole next time I'm there.

I did assessment before I left yesterday. I was surprised at how quick and easy it was. I sort of wanted to fail on purpose, for the sake of a good joke... Lol.

New trail will be even better once it's worked in. They really made good use of the landscape contours to create a 3km+ green DH

From what I'm told, the green trail goes further down hill and joins the collector almost at the village. It's not complete yet I guess.

That's right binrat, the trail will extend past the spot where the green trail meets the collector. The trail is currently cordoned off. So that will add more distance.

Singlesprocket and I love the trails at Mont Ste Anne especially La Grisante and La Vietnam which are both almost 10km (including the double track back to the lift) So we're big fans of distance.

It's great how the trail builders at blue (which is much smaller than MSA) milked the contours to create the dh green trail

Everyone I've spoken to that did the assessment didn't find it difficult.

What the assessors are looking for is a degree of comfort and skill ie getting 2 wheels off the ground and landing solidly as well as having the capacity to ride off camber and wooden features. They are also looking for riders who are recklessness and lack control. Those are probably the riders who have failed (because there have been a few according to the assessors)

The best reward for passing the test is riding Haole which is an exaggeration of the test features plus more. The features are bigger than in the test: drops and gaps. You can see that in the pic I took of singlesprocket on the wall ride.

The more I rode Haole, the faster I got and I was getting "big air" {by my standards} on the tabletops.

In addition, the new trails and the reworked trails are a blast.

Today was the kickoff to the Pedalfest at blue.

9 trails open including the new Gulch intermediate trail which we checked out first.

Singlesprocket reports that O-chute is dialed. And I hit and landed the wall ride on Haole perfectly!

The Ridge was fast and fun

Where were ya? Was keeping an eye open for yous guys, but didn't see you.

    Blue was awesome today.
Still no Showcase, but you can see they have been working on it.
Word is that it is pretty much done, but needs to be packed, it may be open next weekend.

Kept it to grandpa pace most of the day, got my Haole pass - that was pretty much a joke, sent the drop way down, and boosted the jump by several times the minimum distance....even with a buggered chest it was just too easy.

Rode the rest of the way down Grab-bag - that was a mistake - hurt bad a couple times, going so slow that you plow into everything, wanted to open it up a bit, but just did not trust I would have the chest strength to pull it back in when needed.
The new rebuild of Haole is a blast - smooth so not hurting too much - ran it 3 times, rolled, 1/3 speed and about 2/3 on the last run....had fun gapping off of the wall-ride. Love the step-up where the old entrance to Embryo is...not as bad at the bottom as I was lead to believe, although the top is much better.
Looked at O-chute a couple of times, but resisted the temptation after the Grab-bag gong show - heard from the rest of the crew that it was butter and running fast.

Going to ice the ouchies, probably going to pretty sore tomorrow - might be a good idea to go to the inlaws, crush a few beers and hang out in the pool....

Next weekend - Blue or Mountain Creek? There is talk of going on a last minute road trip....

Michael! We must have been riding opposite. We got there around noon and stayed til about 8.

Singlesprocket and I send you healing vibes and good karma! I know what it's like to ride hurting but the main thing is that you got out and gave it your all.

We rode with our friend "large landowner" who is new to DH and he did pretty good until he got a shin burger.

Singlesprocket was sessioning Ochute at the end of the day and I kept sessioning Haole.

Near the end of the day, we rode up the gondola with Trevor Bodogh. He said said he was flying to China tomorrow and this was his only opportunity to try DH for the first time. His first trail was Raisin Run and he made it!

    Today's pics
    Beautiful clear day!

I was surprised by how easy it looked when I went to do my test, it looked way too easy and I thought there had to be a catch so I walked it before I did my test. Nope, no catch, it really was that easy. Continued down and wiped out on the bleeping muddy section on Grab-bag, the whole thing was bone dry then all of a sudden there's a mud pit out of nowhere. Went back for another couple runs and cleaned it.

O-chute was great, I actually found it was easier than Grab-bag today. My hardtail stayed nice & planted, the rear end didn't get kicked around nearly as bad as on Grab-bag. Would've gone back for more runs but I was tired and starting to get a bit sloppy so I finished the day on the blue trails and Haole. Which was kinda dumb in hindsight since Haole was so smooth that I was opening it up and going way too fast for safety, I nearly paid for it with a spectacular sideways slide off the trail which could've been a lot worse than it was. Decided to call it day after that since I figured I'd used up all my luck.

Rode The Gulch as well, I thought I had a flat for a while before realizing that it was still soft and in need of more packing down. Not really my thing but it was an interesting change from my usual runs.

Grab Bag needs TLC but it's way drier than it has been for weeks.

For Haole I've taken singlesprocket's advice to ride the lower section very fast in order to try to clear the tables.

Here's an excellent video from elepizzle riding Haole with speed

What's the likelihood of some runs being open for tomorrow? It just poured down there an hour ago, judging from the cams. I can see the dirt is quite wet.

I'm coming from the city, so I'd like to avoid a gamble, if at all possible.

I just checked the radar: Weather Forecast: Collingwood, Ontario - The Weather Network

Looks like the rain is all done. Overnight looks more than promising with a 40% chance of < 1mm. FWIW, the pavement at the Resort looks pretty dry already, and the pools of water on the hill are gone.

I'm gonna go for it tomorrow I think. If Embryo, Raison and Ridge are open, I'll be fairly content... Though, I really friggin' wanna do Haole.

I just called then. They said assuming no more rain fail (which is looking good), runs will be open just after noon hour. "... For sure", she said over the phone.

Singlesprocket and I have plans for this evening. If the trails aren't open til noon it would give us much time, So we're heading up Sunday instead. There doesn't appear to be any rain in the forecast and hopefully more trails will be open on Sunday.

If you are still riding today... have a great day!

The runs were actually pretty good today, but will be perfect for tomorrow. Bummer that the gondola lost power around 6:00. We left around 8:00 and it still was down. I suggest to call before anyone leaves their house tomorrow. On Friday, they advised the gondola was down for about 5 hours.

Anyways, I'm in love with Haole.

There was a huge turnout of riders today at blue!

Great day! New and improved Showcase opened. Still needs to be worked in ... "All Shook Up"

Singlesprocket rode Shotglass (also opened today) which needs some "Love Me Tender"

Grab Bag was awesome and i rode it x3! Totally dry with one small exception on the last bridge.

Have a family do that apparently I am cooking at on Saturday. Looks like it may be a bit moist weather wise
But, Sunday is open, so at this point my son and I am heading up for a bit of playing in the dirt.

If you see a slow guy biatching about a sore chest riding a raw Podium with a kid (well - man as he is 18 - but he will always be one of my little ones) on a white Delirium in tow stop and say Hi...!!!

    michael

    Ps - Confirmed by trial.
Auto accidents where you go 100kph to 0 in 5 feet but do not break ribs, but only bruise ribs and sternum is WORSE than slipping a pedal on the Showcase filter and breaking a couple ribs and cracking a couple more after auguring in (with pressure suit to boot)... With the broken ribs, I was riding at less than 4 weeks and at 80+% at 8 weeks, with the bruising, damn I'm 7 weeks out and still in almost constant discomfort - with full blow pain a short trip away - but the Doc says get some exercise, so just following the Doctors orders - See you all on Sunday fingers crossed.

It looks too wet today.. so we will keep it local.

We will be up at Blue on Sunday. (we're easy to spot!) I'll definitely keep my eye out for you! Great that you can come out, do what you can broken ribs take time to heal, and because of the intercostal muscles involved

We got our pics taken for the Wade Simmons Clinic while we were riding Haole yesterday... should be posted up somewhere on the interwebs

I'm heading up tomorrow as well. Think a bunch of runs will be open? Weather does not look too good tonight and overnight... *cries*

Was looking a bit too wet for the 3 hour drive up on Sunday.
Made the decision at 6:30am - probably should have tried it, but was not looking forward to Horseshoe as an alternate. My chest is not up to the amount of air-time the place demands of you... As well, I am in desperate need of brake-pads (come-on CRC) so probably for the better cause I'm a bit of a brake hog at the moment.
I'm looking at the coming weekend, hoping for weather, a CRC delivery and a bit more recovery.
    Fingers crossed.

Speaking of pads, the bike shop at Blue got brake fluid on one my pads during a bleed. Had to dish out another $50 on pads, as I just had to replace both for symmetrical feel... Such a shame. I guess I'll go back to bleeding my own brakes, as I actually take the time to take the pads out during a bleed...

I couldn't wait on CRC, so I just bought Brake Authority pads from MEC. If they're good enough for Fabian Barel, they're good enough for me!

I was following another rider down Haole yesterday. Could not believe how much air he was getting... Absolutely sending it. He pretty much gaped the jumped at The Collector:

Ya, I checked MEC, but I'm running Avid XO 4 pot Trails...so pads are a bit scarce on the ground...

That dude is seriously boosting those hits, your running him down, but he hits the launch button and just sends it....

They were filming and photographing this on Friday while singlesprocket and I were riding Haole...our jumps were left on the editing room floor.

Thanks for the find, I wondered where it was going to be posted

I've been watching the line that Geoff takes on the North Face drop... it's the same line that singlesprocket has been trying to show me. It's the best line because it puts you in the right position for the step up.

I can only do part of the North Face and then I bail. I just don't have the speed (or maybe nerve) to carry me to the end. But watching Geoff in the vid and listening to and watching singlesprocket I hope it comes together for me

    You won't be disappointed; he's super-human.

My recommendation is to start walking up the course when the women start coming down. You should make it to the top by the time the top seeds are at the start gate. Have a snack and walk back down course as the men are released. You'll make it back to the finish just in time to see the top seeds run through the tech near the bottom. Totally awesome.

I can also add that if you are bringing your bike, the Coup de Monde and other trails are in the best shape just before and following the World Cup. The trail crews do the maintenance for the race so the trails are in tip top shape until season closer.

We're planning our annual trip to MSA in October. The weather and colours are at it's finest. I can't wait!

Will any runs be open to us mere mortals during the race weekend? Or are all the runs usually closed, for pros only?

I would think that the trails on the backside of MSA would be open as well as trails like La Vietnam La Tordue and La Grisante would be open at times during the WC weekend

It doesn't indicate on their website... maybe shoot them an email

Damn, missed again. We are planning on Saturday.
Brake pads came in, going to try running one sintered and one organic per caliper. Just have to keep a keen eye on the organic side for wear.
Fresh bleed with a fresh bottle of Motul 5.1 - and I took my time degassing and fully bled hose, caliper and lever. Sanded the rotors, and a good alcohol wipe for the lot.

Out on the street out front, doing a couple of bed-in stops - Holy Crap!!! Serious brakes again.

Till this chest heals im gonna be king of the brakes!!

Maybe i should get one of those slow moving vehicle signs...

We had a great day! A few trails were closed because it's wet and some work is being done

It was nice to meet up with you Michael, and I hope the ribs are not too tender

Singlesprocket and I are heading up again today. Trails should be even better

    Fun filled Simcoe day!

Got about 10 runs in. Most trails with the exception of Grab Bag were dry. My goggles were coated in mud speckles by the time I reached the bottom... part of the fun. (My favorite trail Grab Bag needs some TLC )

Last run of the day, chillin on Gulch, when this little guy photobombed me!

Enjoyed fireworks at large landowner's place

huh how'd i miss this. i'm still fairly fresh. i am capable of riding the intermediate cross country trails around here. not sure what that would mean for DH though. i'll just hit up the rookie lines first before i try to get all cocky. i know i ain't that fast/built for DH (ie i'm like five foot eight but 210 right now eesh), but i'll never say not to trying stuff. not sure when i'll get up there. hopefully one of these coming weeks i will.

Saturday's ride at blue was scrumptious! Perfect weather and party atmosphere

I rode Big Sleeze for the first time this year. Nice and steep with sharp turns. (I especially like the middle section in the tight trees... very lush setting)

Singlesprocket smooth sailing over the filter drop

I went to Blue yesterday for my first ever downhill adventure. I think I mentioned it to every single person on the lifts. I had a blast! I didn't get anymore adventurous than the blue trails, but I did ride all of them. Fun fun times!

(I saw Yannick and was going to say hi, but I was too busy getting ready to ride. Priorities!)

That's great Filly! Did you have your own bike or did you rent from blue?

    What was your favorite trail?

This evening is going to be the last race in the 2013 TEVA Tuesday Night Downhill Series at blue. The rumour is that it will be on Showcase

Last weeks race (my very first) was so exciting, I wish I could race again! Now I can scratch first race off my bucket list and add "race series" to the new list of goals!

    Good luck to all riders!

I've been riding so much at Blue this year, I just had to buy this:

    the official blue mountain thread-533210_10151507197126367_1688986562_n.jpg

Cycle Solutions put together a ridiculous built kit with Boxxer World Cups, Easton 35 cockpit, full Shimano Zee, DT 240 hubs, etc.. I can't wait to see'r done.

I recently bought a used Trek Remedy. It worked fabulously on the blue trails. I don't know that it could handle the black trails, but then again, I don't think I could handle those either. The bike and I were a good pair.
My favourite trail? As I am fond of saying, "My favourite trail is the one in front of my bike!" I enjoyed everything I rode, but I have to admit the swoopy tight berms were particularly fun.
I quite enjoyed myself at Blue and I would definitely go again, but I don't see myself getting fully immersed in it. It took up the whole day!
Cyclelicious, I'll let you know next time I'm heading up there again! I talked to almost all the women there that day, I must have miss you. Next time!

Finally got a chance to ride the new Haloe - found it to be a pretty big let down to be honest after reading all the hype about it.

Not enough speed for most of the hits past the first two unless you're on the pedals hard and boost them big which isn't super fun after riding across the entire mountain to get there. I guess the placement of the jumps after berms was done to speed check the average person so they a hard time sending it and crashing.

Guess it doesn't help that I tried it for the first time after 2 weeks of DH in Whistler and Alaska

Stuck to pinning it on Showcase, the new double gap lines and wall ride line are way nicer / faster than last year.

I learned dh basics riding first on a borrowed Heckler then my old Santa Cruz Blurr LT but found the Blurr too light and it held me back from enjoying trails like Grab Bag and Squeaker (big roots rocks etc). I currently find my Transition Syren adequate for the trails at blue... but I am going to upgrade my fork to 180mm travel because I'm using all my suspension. I'm getting more air time on the bigger jumps and drops so I figure it's time to take it up a notch

Each trail is unique and I enjoy the all

We must have been on opposite time so it's easy to miss people. We met up with several riders mid afternoon, despite being there much earlier.

Our paths are bound to cross

I like the upper section of Haole best (I get nice air in the step ups.. which is rush for me) and I think the bottom part is little off and my speed is scrubbed off

For the ride across the top I believe blue has a plan for that

Showcase is fast and fun and I'm glad the crew recently buffed it up (It was in terribly rutted from run off) because it is a very popular run

Singlesprocket and I are planning a trip and look forward to some "mountain riding" but in the meantime blue is closer

Question: what bike were you riding that day? On my many runs down the trail when I went, I noticed that the riders having the most success on Haole were the ones on ~6" travel bikes. The full DH bikes had to be worked hard to clear the jumps and slowed down to avoid overshooting the drops. Shorter travel AM bikes seemed to hit most of the transistions cleanly and carry speed well, and guys on hardtails such as myself had to brake or scrub some of the drops & jumps while boosting it hard on some of the other jumps.

    Hey everyone,

I am moving to Collingwood in two weeks, from Edmonton, and was wondering if my 2012 trance x1 with a 140mm fork will be enough for Blue? I am not big on jumps or gaps so mostly just looking to ride the more technical trails and ones with small jumps. What do you think? I have ridden Blue on one of the rental downhill bikes and it just felt sluggish and slow.

A bit about my riding, I am a good intermediate to advanced rider for technical trails, not jump lines. I raced in BC Bike race this past year and rode a couple days in the whistler bike park. The black technical trails there I was reasonably comfortable on (of course on a full downhill bike)

Let me know what you think! Thanks.

You can rip down Blue on a hardtail. Your Trance will be "enough", but that depends on hard you want to ride.

I used to hit Blue with a 140mm fork, it felt sufficient but limiting on the steeper stuff.

Try to warranty it for sure. Even if it's out of warranty, you can usually get new front/rear triangle at a discount from manufacturer.

I'm bummed out by the crack in my frame

I think my F*ck Cancer sticker was holding the frame together. One more jump and I would have been toast

We rode and explored the xc trails/Bruce trail at blue. Very pretty scenery (bridges, waterfalls, flora and fauna) We rode some newly built trails at the far north side. We had a fun day. Special shout out to Thimk and misses And I think we spotted a Bronson rider.

Near the far side (nice views)

I think my F*ck Cancer sticker was holding the frame together. One more jump and I would have been toast

I'm disappointed but we will see if Transition will step up
I'm not sure I can see the crack. Is it just after the weld that joins the top and down tubes?

Either way, good catch! From what I understand riding along with the front end of your bike in your hands is no fun! :O
Please enjoy seeing this terrible collection of me - something wonderful is about to happy.

Yes it's hardly noticeable in the pic. The crack is just under the weld. It goes under the FCancer sticker and goes across the bottom tube. There is just a couple inches or so of metal intact. It would not have been fun or pretty if it separated especially riding across the collectors where speed is your friend

I think I saw you guys when I was leaving. Im stoked on the Bronson purchase. Did 2 laps where I climbed the grind and hit Haole on the way down. Hit the lift after and did shot glass, showcase and the ridge. The bike was comfortable doing it all

Good to know how the Bronson performed: tough and versatile!

    Judy

Sorry to hear about your frame, though very glad to hear of the discovery timing.
    Any word yet from Transition?

Let the big guy know that Knolly has just announced a 66/67 degree 150mm 650b bike. Available in February....to be known as the "Warden"....
The PinkPlace has a preview article.

Last time I saw you guys was on my Birthday on the 11th August. When we said Hi in line, I was hiding a surprise....
I had a washout on Haole - nothing fancy just a normal slide into the ground. Got up shook it off - thought that's going to leave yet another bruise....and continued to ride.
Pumped out another 10 runs for a total of 13. Most of it running laps on Showcase or running Haole with Tyler. Next couple of days the "bruise" gets a bit more tender....
Yup, another couple of ribs sacrificed to the hill.....
So looks like I'm going to be out yet again, this time to late mid September or so....

    Hi Michael

Happy belated birthday. Sorry to hear about your ribs again. That sucks.

Chris has eyed that Knolly on PB also. If we ever move out to BC, that would be the perfect bike.

I have been in contact with Transition and things are moving along. I must say Transition reps are awesome

This Sunday we are riding out to Hanlan's Point... nudist beach on Centre Island to watch the Canadian International Airshow and perhaps take a dip.

I was planning to go today but looks like that's not happening.

My ride was great, even though I was really taking it easy. My passion is biking and I've had too much injury induced couch time. I was a little freaked out because it was exactly (to the day no less) a year ago I broke my arm and hurt my ribs at Blue, so it's not easy to put that out of mind.

Since then I've had two separate two month stretches of healing from other injuries that kept me off my bike. So basically I'm a bit timid these days.

Skipped Saturday, rode this afternoon instead. They opened more trails as the day went on, so I got a run down Haole before it was time to quit and hit the road BlackBerry GPS claims I went 43.1kph at some point.

Thanks. It was the only DH frame in stock at the time. Not bad for a "default" choice!
