Caution; Merge; Workers Ahead! Mountainview 9 Hour 2011 - But this time, there's cash!

    Hi Everyone,

Nerdgirl started a thread about this event a little while ago, but I wanted to re-start with a fresh title, to announce some big news!

The event will run as it has in past years: a fantastic course, bonus events, camaraderie, and great prizes and giveaways. However, this year, our main sponsor Total Sports the Bike Shop has stepped up huge, and offered $1000 in CASH PRIZES!

$200 will go to the fastest lap times of the day, $100 for fastest male, and $100 for fastest female. $200 will go to the winner of each bonus event. What does this mean? Even if you aren't out to set any speed records and just ride for fun, you can still put some cash in your pocked by chowing a pie, limboing your bike, slip n' sliding like a boss, or holding a giant pile of bottles under your arm!

Now, early registration closes tomorrow night at midnight, but you can register right up until event day. The earlier you register the better, to guarantee getting a t-shirt. Also, if you visit Total Sports in Midland, you can get a coupon for 5% off registration.

For more event info, and to register, go to http://mountainviewmidland.com/new/?page_id=10

If you're a fan of facebook, check out the page here. Also, please go on FB and invite all of your friends to the event.

    Thanks!

    TMAS

So? How was it? Great success? Pie?

Swabag, I'm kinda surprised you could fit a solo into your training regimen!

(I really wanted to be there for all the fun but my neices were in town and we took them to the zoo. The lemurs were excellent.)
Please enjoy seeing this terrible collection of me - something wonderful is about to happy.

Indeed, the event went quite well...Lemurs are my favourite though...Something like 70 riders came out, excellent performance both on the track and in the bonus events...the course was closed for about 90 minutes do to a thunderstorm, but we ran the pie eating contest in the chalet, so nothing much was lost..the course then tacked up nicely after the rain and all was happy at Mountainview once again.

Perhaps a lame race review, but I was hoping some competitors could make a better one?

I'd like to know what kind of pie, who won the pie eating contest and how many pies did they eat? Basically more details about the pie.

swabag wrote a race report here.

congrats on a successful race, tmas!

Mmm - pie. Yes, I want to know pie details as well. Also, were the other challenges the same as last year or did you switch them up? I'm still bitter about losing the bike limbo because my handlebar hit the bar last year. I had the technique mastered!!!

Mtbr race report(even though vv has pretty much blown my secret identity)

The 9 hour at Mountainview was awesome, its my favourite o cup venue ever, tied with Calabogie and Elliot lake. Anyways it was a fight not to be on the front line, unlike the 24 hour were you need to send a place holder two hours before the start.

The rest is history, I got 4 hours of awesome riding in on the course before I was told to get off my bike, not argument from me, That lightning was close.

Watched the pie eating contest as I hate cherry pie, or any other berry or fruit pie for that matter.

Got back on the bike for another 3.5 hours stopped for the slip and slide, i was last overall but the only solo to stop so i got a 15 minute time bonus sweet,

Awesome event hope to do it again.

What?? OK, I'm with you on the cherry pie, but all other fruit pies? I may have lost all respect for you.

As for the secret identity, just wait until people start coming up to you on the trail and asking "You're swabag, aren't you?" It could happen! Just ask Matt24Solo.

This won't be terribly effective since it's definitely before your time. But can I offer you a theme song as an apology?

Cherry pie is the best ever only after peach but I'm not sure what pie it would take to get me in a pie eating contest. You'd never eat that pie again so you have to make your choice wisely.

I look forward to hearing some good stories. Sadly, the odds of me being there are very slim, as my due date is one week prior.

You could always come down for the Dundas Monstercross to stretch out the legs the day before defending your Hillbilly title... (or King, whichever). I won't make you eat pie.

As a pereninal pie eating contest runner-up, I can safely say that you don't really taste the pie, or else you're doing it wrong.

Also, our pie eating contest is more short track than enduro - half a pie, down the hatch as fast as possible...It was all a blur but I'm guessing around 30 seconds.
