Mountain Bikers Guide to Muskoka/Georgian Bay …

I am helping a friend move in North Bay late next week and then have several extra days all to myself. So after the move I was thinking of heading south and exploring the Muskoka/Georgian Bay region. I was hoping that anyone with knowledge of the area could fill me in on any can’t miss activities during my visit including… group rides, favorite routes, hiking, fishing, bike shops, restaurants, camping spots, a link to relevant threads , websites and of course the best places to ride..

I like to keep my options open depending on weather and trail conditions etc. so any information is appreciated.
Here is what I have planned thus far … a visit to:

    Buckwallow Cycling Centre
    http://thebikeshopingravenhurst.com/
Minnesing Mountain Bike Trail (it’s on my way home )

also Porcupine Ridge in Bracebridge for North Shore style riding. If you look through albums on my Picasa link at bottom of post there are hundreds of Muskoka trail photos.

Canuck, if you do ride The Minnesing in AP, please post trail conditions. It's been almost10 yrs since I rode that trail. A friend rode it 1 or 2 yrs ago and her comment was it's becoming very overgrown in many places from lack of use!!!
Since you have the Gravenhurst Bike Shop link posted, no doubt you noticed they do a Wed night group ride at Buckwallow, as well as a Fri night group road ride?

Porcupine Ridge........Well earlier this spring we had a really good work day in there and with the help of 4 leaf blowers a chain saw and 8 to 10 guys we cleaned everything up, it was a bit wet but all trails were cleaned....... then we had a wind storm and now we have a not so clean trail system....I rode there a week and half ago and it wasn't very good looked like it rained sticks and green leaves, mass amounts of trees ripped out by the roots. I'm not sure if some of the other guys that look after this park have started yet but most of my group have been to busy to get time to start the clean up.
