Yes, thanks very much for the link. Another cheque headed their way.

People, even if you haven't ridden there, please consider sending them some support ($$$).

The potential threat exists that many places we take for granted to ride in could be jeopardized if this lawsuit succeeds.

    Then, we all lose.

Thanks for those contributions. Here is another option: write to Tim Peterson, parliamentary assistant to the Minister of Tourism and Recreation. I just sent him this letter, please take the time to write something similar along these lines and send it to: [email protected].

    Dear Mr. Peterson,

I am writing about volunteer recreational trail organizations, and the
Kolapore Uplands Wilderness Ski Trails in particular.

For over 30 years, volunteers have maintained a network of ski trails on
public lands near Collingwood, an area known as the Kolapore Uplands.

These trails have become so popular and well-known that they are now
used by hikers, naturalists, equestrians, cyclists and motorized sports
enthusiasts (trail bikes, ATV's and snowmobiles), in addition to the
    original user group of skiers.

Last year, the Kolapore Uplands trails were sued by an irresponsible
trail user, along with several public institutions including the
government of Ontario, as you may already be aware.

Due to the obscene liability climate in this province, at this time, the
future of these and other similar trail networks is now in question.

I request that the government of Ontario take action to protect
volunteer trail organizations, which provide significant public benefit
to this province at very little public cost, from thoughtless
individuals, hard-charging lawyers, and profitable insurance companies.
The credibility of your ministry is at stake.

    Sincerely,

I believe you can also get the trail map at the general store just down the road from Kolapore. The name escapes me at this moment.
Well worth the riding there.... but hence i have now gone west....

Just a correction- James Bradley is the Minister of Tourism and Recreation. A letter is a great idea as the Minster is developing a new strategy for trails. Ed

Oops thanks for that! Tim Peterson is a parliamentary assistant who is working on the new Ontario Trails Strategy program, so he is a good choice for email as well, but he is not the minister. Sorry about that! I edited the above post so it is now correct.
