    Joyride women's day/weekend?

Hey ladies (and friends of ladies who ride),

A couple of us have been chatting to Joyride about having a women's weekend or day. We were inspired by the excellent one that Ray's puts on every year (worth a trip if you can manage it).

I know what I'd like, but what do YOU want? What would make you take the trip?

    Here are my thoughts:

    ESSENTIAL:
    - Some time in the park for just the ladies. No hubbies, no tight jean teenage boys, just women. Ray's did this on the Friday, and it was a big confidence booster, plus it made for great camaraderie.

    Would be GREAT:
    - Coaches. My preference would be for something reasonably structured, so that you could pick "stations" that offered specific skills. For example: bunnyhopping, quarter punches, wheelie drops, log-overs, riding skinnies, pump track basics, beginner jumps, wheel management (e.g. advanced skinnies)... Is this too basic? Too advanced? Would you prefer something unstructured? Or just divided into skill groups (beginner, experienced, advanced) where you cover a variety of skills? Anything missing?

    Would be NICE:
    - Female coaches (personally, I don't really care, but some do). This could be challenging...
    - Food
    - Party
    - Sponsorship
For the last one, what would be important? Free food? Free entry? Top level coaches? Schwag?

Would anyone go on a weekday? Would going early (9am?) on a Saturday with exclusive use of SOME of the park for SOME of the time be enough? One day? Two? Three?

How important is a female coach? A certified coach? (for example, would you prefer a good female rider, or a certified male coach?)

btw, I know several of you have SOs (and friends) who ride, but who don't post. Please pass on any of their thoughts!

Great idea Nerdgirl! This sounds very fun and exciting! I can work on food and beer, ie. I work for a catering company and promo with Carls so can work on pricing for food and drinks and I'm sure I can grab some cool Carls swag

I'm impartial of coaching, ie male or female, certified or not, as long as they are patient and skilled.

Up for early weekend or weekday evening (but later on in the month since I'm stuck in a cast still!)

There was a women's clinic last month at Joyride, any feedback from that?

Ooh - score! More of that tasty blue stuff! (What was it called again? So yummy - must buy more).

VVagabond and I were tossing around Feb 5th as a possible date.

Are you talking about that fruity beer? I brought one home and really liked it too. Made me wish I snagged more from Louda.

Thanks for the feedback, Louda. And we wouldn't dream of having it when you are still broken Will find out about the ladies' clinic. I know they were having Monday night sessions that were going well.

You must be talking the nectar of the goddesses Kronenberg Blanc 1664, mmmmm sooo tasty! start asking for it at your local bar and they will be sure to stock up! There are only a couple places in Toronto now that actually have it on tap! I know, rah rah Carlsberg

Awesome, I should be back with a vengeance come February!

Oh, that's the stuff. It was nommy! Note to self - this is not the beer thread...

I promise! Cast will be coming off same day as the partay! So you'll miss the pretty purple fibre glass cast...

Maybe we should put a disclaimer on the Joyride Women's Day adverts...drinking excessive amounts of said sponsored beer and non-sanctioned Jagr will lead to injuries if also sporting footwear with wheels...

    Weekends work better for me.
Don't care if the coaches are certified, as long as they know their stuff.
Unstructured stations sound like a good idea.
    Free entry would be sweet!

Since garagemonster is in this thread, I figure I can be too.

My wife (Mrs. Coach, Chickedyou, whatever you're calling her these days) will be there if at all possible.

When I was there last Friday with my sons and 4 members of our high school team, my 6 year old asked me, "Why is it only boys here?".

I can't recall if I learned the term from Mike at a WOW rocks 'n' logs clinic, or from the Sacred Rides coaches at Buckwallow.

In any case, it referred to the powerful quarter-turn of the cranks you use at low speed to pop your front wheel up. Though more I can see the appeal of more creative interpretations...

Oh - should have added manuals to that list. Perhaps the list is over-ambitious. Maybe it should be based more on area of the park. E.g. leading a group through each of the sport skinnies (with advice); pump track skillz; jumping skillz... And leave the basics to the beginner area?

Would YOU be interested in volunteering to coach???

I was there Friday too! And there was this guy who was a dead ringer for you (pun intended) but for some reason I thought it couldn't be you because you are a teacher. Are you at the school who had a PE day and the reason Joyride opened early? Now I wish I said hello.

That my friend it's really excellent idea and I just know my girlfriends would be interested. We love joyride!

Don't care if the coach is male or female. But my prefferance is the weekend.

I'll do it if you do it. Plus, there'll probably be beer (after, of course)!

"Quarter punch" (not to be confused with "junk punch", ) is indeed a term we learned from a coach at Sacred Rides. We stuck with it since Nerdgirl found it more descriptive than when I would tell her to "pop a wheelie".

In my experience with clinics like this, it seems half the battle is demystifying terminology. Some people say bunny-hop while others insist on saying j-hop to describe the same thing. To-may-to, to-mah-to.

Maybe there should be a long in-class section... ?/waits for Ms. Vagabond to start throwing vegetables.../

Oh awkward, we were going to make her your assistant for the day. (just kidding Lou!)

Yay! our first (swabag!) and second coach (gm!). We will give you a save the date as soon as it's confirmed.

Well, crap. Guess I'll have to get the littlest Summers to teach me! Awesome to have you on board!

Any other suggestions for who we can arm-twist into coaching would be welcome.

And I am NOT having gm as my coach. I get enough of that at home! Although his advice is better than Hayden's sage words on how to bunnyhop: "First you wheelie, then you jump". Riiiight. Since I suck at both, not so useful.

    LOVE IT!

    my thots:

when: weekeday. that way Joyride doesn't have to close just for us. ALL day long.

Coaches: guys and gals - either or. as long as they know more than us and can teach us things.

food: heck, we're ladies - we can provide what we need.

    let's get this thing going!!!

Another reply from another MTB friend of mine:

"This is perfect! I agree with ****'s feedback. Any weekday except a friday i can probably manage. As for food - having something like subway subs and drinks brought in for a nominal cost would be great! "

I think you could get a good size group together for this!

Heck, you're welcome to join us the night before for the Misfit Holiday Hullaballoo at Joyride too if you want (you did your share of cheering at HAN, ) . Usually less hijinx than the Anti-Race but there's more eggnog.

    Love getting the good feedback!

My thoughts so far, given that it's a first-time effort:

    - Have it start early Saturday morning (earlier than regular opening e.g. sign in from 8 - 8:30). We still need to negotiate details, but Mark has suggested that they could keep parts of the park closed, at least for part of the day. Maybe just a half day of actual organised stuff, ending with a late lunch? I'd expect most would keep riding after that.

A full day weekday (a la Ray's) really would be awesome (it probably would be a Friday), but I'm not sure how many people would be willing to take the day off work. I'd do a poll on here, but so few women are signed up for mtbr!

I could probably also run down to Foody Mart and pick up a huge spread for almost no money. So good and so cheap!

Yeah, I have to agree with Nerdgirl. Unfortunately we would probably get less of a turnout if we chose a weekday... although it would be awesome to have the park to ourselves. Maybe someday!

Thanks for the feedback Starbuck. Very helpful!

And we don't have a set time yet for Joyride next Saturday... starting early might be possible despite Hullaballoo being the night before. Will pm you when we confirm.

Poll would be a good idea, Survey Monkey is a good one, especially if you have more email contacts.

Friday would work best for me, maybe not a full day but if it's from 6-10 that way it wouldn't be as inconvenient to close off since the weekends would prob be busier? or have the option of coming in earlier of course to warm up and practice! And beers taste so much tastier on a Friday night

I was actually going to ban Swabag as a coach - I hear he pushes girls off there bikes!

I'm kinda liking the idea of a Friday night AND Saturday morning thing, but I don't want to get so ambitious that it doesn't happen either. More feedback? Again - if you know any possible coaches, let us know.

That would be awesome, but maybe not so easy for some to pull off (speaking for my group, totally off the cuff here) We have to travel a ways to get there and have kids ect...

That was my initial concern. We could always do the Friday as a more informal and optional thing, with the Saturday being the coached part...

Depending on the dates I might be able to get the wife to come out. Big might, as if it's in Jan or Feb all weekends are out as that is the big part of OUA VBall season.

I would love to get her out as she was doing so well before Gabi and the coaching job.

I am interested in event and will be watching for finalized details to be posted. I'm not sure if I will be able to make it, particularly if it's during a weekday.
I don't have much opinion to offer with regards to what I'd like to see for this event as I've never been to Joyride. So I will have to just say enthusiastic and encouraging coaching.

    Keep me posted!
    I love riding my bike!

Sorry, Joely won't be able to come out. The team has big games against Ryerson and York that weekend.

I'll be around that weekend if you would like any help though.

i just learned of this park and plan to check it out. my biggest issue would be if the weather cooperates for the drive.

some additional thoughts: if you do this on February 5th, itís close to when rayís normally has their womenís day event and if someone wants to go to both, it might be hard if they are too close together. but then again, maybe iím the only crazy person who would want to do both. iím not sure how many women normally go to joyride, but if itís not too many, maybe consider having it free for women to ride the whole weekend for this first womenís day event. that way if someone new to riding canít make it on the day you have the coaching/events, they might still be willing to give riding the park a try if it doesnít cost them anything that first time. then they get hooked and keep coming back.

that is an awesome idea!!! More of an incentive for women to come out and play!

    when is Ray's weekend?

Unfortunately I won't be able to make the 5th but will def go on the Friday after work and/or Sunday.

Wow - very cool you're thinking of making the journey! (It's worth it!)

We DEFINITELY don't want to conflict with Ray's - they put on a fantastic event that's worth the trip. They've tentatively scheduled theirs for Feb 18th, though it's not yet official. I suspect they've been a little preoccupied trying to get their Milwaukee permits!

Since this is the inaugural women's weekend, we're expecting mostly locals out (i.e. people within driving distance), and it will be smaller scale than Ray's. Having said that, I think it will be awesome! Thanks for the suggestions.

the first year rayís had the womenís weekend it was small too, but each year it keeps getting bigger and better. and last year was huge! it just takes that initial time, and people have so much fun and just spread the word. i had stumbled across the joyride site last week and thought i was going to check it out over the weekend, but then i kept hearing how bad the weather was and decided to hold off (i didnít really want to get stuck in a storm and sit on the highway for a day). but now i can look forward to checking it out for the womenís day.

Nerdgirl and I were at Ray's women's weekend last year too and loved it! It was actually the inspiration for the joyride ladies day. Glad to hear you'll try to make it out.

    Really hoping for good weather...

So is there a discounted rate as well? If it's a good enough drop then it might be worth the wig/bra/skirt to get in.

Oh, honey, after the women's weekend, you'll want to be just like all those awesome ladies and make the switch permanent.

    The rates have been negotiated:
$30 for both the Friday night (Feb 4th) and Sat morning (Feb 5th). $20 if you can only make one day. That includes admission, all coaching, schwag and possible other goodies.

Watch soon for registration and our Facebook page to go live.

Two days in a row at Joyride left me with all the usual blisters on both hands, a jammed wrist, a clunky ankle and super stiff shoulders. Good times! Can hardly wait to go back on Saturday!

I signed Carmen up for both days as a Christmas present (even though I couldn't pay online, springing her for a Friday and Saturday on a hockey tournament weekend is still a gift)

Nice gift! We're happy she's coming!

From Ray's womens weekend last year (I'm getting a pump track lesson at 1:00)

Saturday the plan is to open earlier just to the ladies. Hoping for 8am registration, 9am clinics starting. Friday will be normal (this year, at least!).

Just posted a FAQ on our Facebook page - copied here.

    FAQ

What kind of bike should I use?
You can bring your own bike, or rent one from Joyride. People ride everything in there (except road bikes – it’s possible, but it isn’t pretty!). Cross country bikes are totally fine, but my personal preference is a dirt jump bike with flat pedals, and a BMX is pretty fun too. I would recommend flat pedals, as it’s much easier to put a foot down when riding a skinny. A department store bike will also be just fine.

Can I reserve a rental bike in advance?
You bet! Contact mark (at) joyride150.com and let him know what kind of bike you want (XC, DJ, BMX, youth)

    What time are the events?
Friday: registration from 5-6pm; coaching 6-9pm; pub after…
Saturday: registration 8-9am; coaching 9-12; lunch and schwag 12-2ish

Is the park only open to women for the weekend?
The park will be open to all users on Friday and Saturday, so you can bring your male friends and relatives – they just can’t take part in the clinics. However, some parts of the park will be closed during specific clinics. Also, the park only opens to all users Saturday at 10am, so we will have it all to ourselves for a couple of hours.

Do I have to register and pay in advance?
Please do register in advance, so we can predict numbers, but payment will be at the door.

Are the day passes really included in the fee?
    Yep! Great deal, eh?

Is it REALLY for all abilities and ages?
Yes, although this is not a babysitting service. If you are bringing your child, please accompany her throughout.

What will be covered in the clinics?
We're looking at Friday being small-group progressive coaching (i.e. dependent on the group, with one coach per group) and Saturday focused more on individual skills like bunny-hopping, jumping, log-overs, pump-track fun, wheel-management (i.e. how to ride skinnies) etc.

Which hotel should I stay at?
Comfort Inn and Hilton Suites both have special Joyride rates:
Hilton Suites is a little closer and fancier, but also a little pricier, and both are perfectly decent places to stay.

    Will there be food?
We’re planning on having snacks available and lunch on Saturday. A few of us will undoubtedly be heading to the pub on Friday evening. There are also snacks available for purchase at the park, but you might want to bring something to keep you going (and a water bottle!).

What does “shred the gnar” mean?
Riding around Joyride on a sweet bike with a fierce attitude. And posing.

I probably come by on Friday with Gabi, let her see other females riding bikes. Not just see her Daddy.

Not ride though as she isn't ready for it yet. More so she is exposed to more of the possibilities in the world.

Lots of people signing up! Great to see!

I added a couple more FAQs:

Q: If I've never been to the park before, do I need a membership?

A: Yes - a membership is $5 and lasts forever. You must also fill out a waiver - it'll go much faster if you can print it out and bring it with you.
    http://www.joyride150.com/wp-content...Waiver_new.pdf

Q: Where can I keep my stuff?

A: There are lockers available, so bring a lock with you for any valuables.

    Q: What should I wear?

A: If you're riding a BMX, get out those skinny jeans and blend right in! Most people don't wear spandex in the park, and it can get a little chilly when you aren't riding, so a sweatshirt is a pretty good idea. You can also rent protective equipment from Joyride.

That was me one year ago. I probably wouldn't have gone to a bike park either but Nerdgirl was going to Ray's Womens weekend and invited me along. I was definitely intimidated before I got there but trying it out with a lot of women around made all the difference. Very supportive atmosphere. I was surprised how much I could already do and even more, how much I learned that weekend!

And that's why we decided to do the same thing at Joyride. You are going to love it!

I hope to meet you that weekend.

Heh - I was about to re-evaluate my assumptions about your gender. I s'pose I still could be wrong, in this day and age. Hmmm.

I see you're eager about the festivities! As you should be...

Anyway, I'm not positive about the answer - yet. Though it is important. Will try to have an answer for you by the end of the week. We had been thinking about a pub in Unionville...

You should pick somewhere that isn't used to having a large influx of female patrons, especially a rowdy group...you know, just to keep in theme with the weekend.

How out of place am I going to be with my cross country bike? Am I going to have an awkward moment when I realize I'm the only one? As per your advice, I'll be switching to flat pedals.
What protective equipment does one need, aside from a helmet?
What happens if I get hung up in traffic on Friday and am a bit late arriving?
    I love riding my bike!

    Awesome! Will try to answer.

Q: How out of place am I going to be with my cross country bike? Am I going to have an awkward moment when I realize I'm the only one? As per your advice, I'll be switching to flat pedals.
A: Not out of place at all. Many many people ride their cross country bikes at Joyride. There's even a cross country loop! Although I prefer riding my dirt jump bike there, I think it's actually better for skill development to ride your normal bike. I can't do flat pedals on my 29er (I end up with toe-overlap), but flats mean the skinnies have no unpleasant consequences if you decide to bail, which means you're more courageous to try them. You could always bring your normal pedals and shoes just in case you decide you're more comfortable that way.

Q: What protective equipment does one need, aside from a helmet?
A: Need? None. Want? Up to you. I find, especially with flats, I end up banging my shins with my pedals, so I like to have leg armour. You can rent padding (plastic courage!) from Joyride for $3 a day if you want it. Oh! And here's a handy tip. I find I ride so much that I can end up with blisters from my gloves. Bring some nice talc baby powder and put it in your gloves - it really helps. And adds a lovely scent to every jump!

Q: What happens if I get hung up in traffic on Friday and am a bit late arriving?
A: No worries. You might miss a bit of clinic, but you can join right in when you get there.

Since my 29r is new and untested to me, Should I bring my regular ride? I'm hoping to get to joyride maybe this weekend to give it a go with the new bike, but I feel i may be a bit nervous on the new one.

We'll be there Saturday morning! To answer your question - maybe? I'd hate to see you rip your brand new derailleur off. Or be too scared of ripping it off to try anything. How badly does the old bike fit? You could throw park tires on it, and convert your old bike completely to a park bike... The plus of riding the new bike is that your skills will translate more directly, but learning too much at once (i.e. getting used to the bike AND learning new skills) might be tough?

The old bike will be fine fo Joyride.I'm completely comfortable on it (likely to even run clipless with no issues) so I think I'll take it.

Don't be afraid to bring more than one bike if they'll fit in/on your vehicle. Last year when we went to the Ray's Women's Weekend, We brought 2 29ers, a DJ and a BMX.

Even when I go to Joyride, I'll often bring a different bike depending on my mood although I have yet to use my cyclocross bike...
Please enjoy seeing this terrible collection of me - something wonderful is about to happy.

Just thought I'd share a teaser of one of our awesome coaches:

Mike Garrigan! He has just started as the Ontario Endurance Development Coach. He has raced just about everything bike related (possibly not recumbents) at the highest levels. We're very excited to have such an excellent coach for the weekend.

Woo hoo! I LOVE vitamine water to the point that I'm wondering what they add to it to make it so addictive?

Thanks SO much to getting this together. I'm looking forward to it on so many levels you have no idea. (one just being a weekend out of the house!)

I can't believe how strong demand is for this event! Back in November, I was thinking 20-30 girls would be great but now I wouldn't be surprised at all to see 100! Not to mention all the families and fanbois!

I've seen the list of coaches and the load of prizes and it's all truly top notch. I've even decided which clinic I'm going to "spy" on.

Yes this will be a great weekend. Nice to just get out and meet everybody and have a good time riding or falling one or the other. Maybe we will out number the kids and they won't know what hit them. Thanks to all that made the arrangements and doing all the work with sponsors etc. Well Done and really looking forward to hitting the park especially with so many skill levels. I won;t feel out of place now .

Hey will there be a schedule of what clinics are on what day? I'm just thinking of the people who can't do both days, but have to choose one or the other. Some areas of improvement may be more or less looked for?

The plan is for all the clinics (we have about eight) to be available on each day, on the hour (e.g. each clinic will be run a total of six times over the two days). Having said that, it will be busier on Saturday, so you'll get more personal attention on Friday. A couple of the clinics (e.g. jumping) will not be run at 11 on Saturday, because the park will be too busy by then.

I should add though - all our draws for schwag will be Saturday at lunch...

And, if you want to get the full grrrlpower experience, Saturday's the day, as we have access to the park for two hours before the guys, AND (based on sign-ups so far) there will be about 100 women there!

Crazy isn't it? I was looking over the invite list on facebook and there's even a former rainbow jersey holder in attendance. It's amazing how it's gone from an idea to what will undoubtedly be a super event & festival in less than two months.

*stands and applauds* With a turnout like that you may very well be on your way to an annual event. Maybe even bi-annual or seasonal.

If this is an offer, you are more than welcome to come and take pictures! I think we already have at least one guy who offered but the more the better. It's tough to take pictures at Joyride due to the poor lighting... the more taken, the better chance they'll turn out.

Just got a super-nice offer of sponsorship from Sacred Rides!

They're raffling off a weekend skills camp in Ontario or BC ($400 value!) and two jerseys! Plus they're supplying everyone with snack-sized Clif bars. Thanks, Mike!

They pretty much have a full service bike shop - everything except frames. Bought a friend some super-sweet pink platform pedals as a house-warming gift from there! I'm sure they'd even install them.

Yes it was a good call. Now lets hope we don't get anymore snow because if I ahve to shovel and more I don't think I will have the energy to ride. Thank God the storm wasn't as bad as predicted because I justed shovelled enough and it is still coming down so will ahve to shovel again after work tomorrow morning.

Happy Year of the Rabbit! In honour of the Chinese New Year, we'll all have to learn to get big air!

I'm planning on totally earning those Superbowl nachos. Mmm!

I'm completely overwhelmed (in a good way) by the response to this. It's possible we could have nearly 200 women out shredding the gnar this weekend!

If you're still considering it, don't be shy - just show up!

Or, if you want to make me even more giddy, register here:
http://www.joyride150womensweekend.com - go to the bottom of the page.

Red Bull to the rescue! (That was a shameless plug. Red Bull just sponsored a huge new box jump in the Joyride street park. )

    Something to aspire to!

Sadly for us (though good for him) Drew Bezanson can't be at the Women's Weekend, as he's defending his win in Estonia at the Simpel Session.

    Friday: Registration 5-6; clinics 6-9; bar 9:30-???
Saturday: Registration 8-9am; clinics 9-12; lunch & schwag giveaways 12-3

Well, a titch before 9, just to get set up, as the clinics will start as close to 9 as possible... But the answer is yes.

Bonus of showing up early on Saturday - you get to noodle around and have the park completely to yourself!

    Wow,how much fun was that?!?

We're just home from Joyride and I'm gonna speak for both Mrs. Monster (in the shower) and Ms. Vagabond (on her way back to Gizmo in Ottawa) and say WOW! I think we had about 70 girls Friday nignt and nearly 100 today. AMAZING!

It was absolutely fantastic to see so many people out shredding! I could scarcely wipe the smile from my face as I coasted around the park. An event like this really underscores the bredth and the strength of the Ontario riding community. It was a real pleasure to make so many new friends so quickly!

Super-special mega-thanks to the Summers and Bentley families of Joyride fame for making the weekend so HUGE!

Nice! I'm still on cloud nine. So many people made this a huge success:
    - All the amazing ladies who came out and shredded! Seriously - they MADE the weekend
    - All the incredible coaches who volunteered their time
    - All the sponsors who stepped up to make this extra fun

We're already thinking about how to make it even better for next year!!!

Had a good time at Women's Joyride Day. Practiced my skills. These pics were taken during a quieter time.

Met up with several women downhillers from Blue Mountain who inspired me to try a downhill race this year. Currently building up my downhill bike which will be race ready,

Also ran into some members from the BMBC and Dropmachine.

well i made it home safe (and no tickets; though the border guard seemed to have a hard time believing me that i drove to canada by myself to ride my bike). just wanted to say a huge thank you to everyone who helped make this past weekend possible. i really had a great time and it looked like a lot of others did too. it was nice to meet some new people and put faces with names; and the coaches and folks at joyride were supper nice too.

Learning that it's okay to crash and bail should almost be a clinic on its own. It's an integral part of gaining confidence and building skill and it's something I'm getting better at all the time as I demonstrated to Sweet Filly on Saturday morning when I attempted a transfer and my bike decided not to come along for the ride...

Ya I sure need to learn how to crash gracefully and have less serious injuries. I sure won;t be riding for a while Then again learn after first crash don't go back for more...lol Now I get the "we told you so" and I give them "life is too short you ahve to try everything even once" Just can't say I am enjoying the price right now and a week before holidays. Oh well what can you do. Glad everybody had a good time. It was alot of fun and alot of nice riders.

I am paying the price after the second crash. Cause a whole lot more damage and I have never hurt this bad in my life. The Dr wasn't to impressed with me that is for sure and neither are the people that have to shovel my snow. It is going to be interesting at work tomorrow trying to drive a forklift with damaged ribs. I just hope he gives me the go ahead to fly. Si I would say I was Stupid and I am paying the price. But you did do an excellent job and if I go I go next yr I stick to the pump track and the little jumps. Broomball team isn't too happy tonight either short players and I am done for the season. Just hope I recover in time for MTB season I think I will stick to that for awhile.

The second crash happened after snack time. It wasn't as spectacular as the first crash which should have really caused alot of damage but I think my helmet took the brunt of that crash and my side. The second was a slow mo and I knew I was going down and I think I tried to protect the injured side and cause even more damage on the healthy side. So now I hurt all over. Waiting for the results of the Xrays. He said the good thing is you are talking, eating and walking and breathing. I wouldn't wish this pain on anybody that is for sure. It was like somebody put a 1000 pounds on my chest I couldn't even breath to get up. Thank you to the girl that took the bike off me though I never got a chance to say thank you as I could not speak. That was the end of my day. I am bad enough on the trails I think I better stay away from concrete.. lol But I still had fun regardless. the chances you take trying new things.

Oh I hear ya! I broke two ribs this summer... Still rode though, just didn't take any chances for a while.

I had a stupendous crash (While standing still, forgot I was clipped in) Smashed my face and rammed my leg into the chain ring! Oh well, what doesn't kill you makes you stronger or somthing like that! At least you went for it!

I am bad enough on the trails I think I better stay away from concrete.. lol But I still had fun regardless. the chances you take trying new things.
sweetbabyd, hope to see you next year! And everyone else!!

There are only 2 types of cyclist's. Those that have crashed and those that are going to.

Joyride 150 Hosts Successful Women's Skills Weekend
    release by JOYRIDE150

February 12, 2011 (Markham, ON) - JOYRIDE150 Indoor Bike Park, a 90,000sq/ft indoor biking facility for bike riders of all disciplines & skill levels, hosted their inaugural Women's Weekend on February 4th & 5th. Over 130 women of all ages and riding abilities came together to ride and get biking tips from experienced coaches. Ladies rolled in from across Canada & the US to attend the 2-day session that provided riding, instruction, food, drinks, swag, prizes, and most of all - a fun & supportive environment.

JOYRIDE150 featured skills workshops in various areas of the park so that women could conquer their fears and learn to ride such things as beginner/sport/expert skinnies, a foam pit & resi jump, rhythms & jump lines, the BMX street park, pump/race tracks, the cross-country loop with climbs & obstacles and much more. There was also a "Learn To Ride" clinic for those that were new to riding. All types of riders & skill levels were shown a good time.

no, but i think if you click on any of the pictures in the last post (asking for video help), it will take you to the photobucket site and the video should play

after all the pictures and non-stop talking, i convinced hubby to make the trip north with me, so i may get to make another trip joyride real soon

Well, Gabi on Sat wanted to take her bike out to ride the trails. Despite the reality she can't balance it yet. Though now she is pulling it out and sitting on it leaning on the couch while watching bike videos.
