    Haliburton Forest open for business

good buddy of mine just picked up a property near by and we just had to sneak in some riding time into the moving weekend.. it rained for a while in the am, but then the sun came out and all was good
we hit the trails around 1pm, the bugs were tolerable as long as you keep moving (hence not a lot of pics).. the trails are still a little soggy (fact that it rained didn't help either) but even the wet spots are ridable.. not the quicksand type mud
spent solid 2.5hrs on the trails, which for that place is a good warm up but after lifting boxes/furniture all day saturday, I was glad to even be able to hold on to the hbars

not too many pics... just wanted to ride before heading back to the stinkin' city

got the MIA in the air on a "few" occasions love the feel of a rigid steel set up

my geared buddy on the same rock

one of many gruelin' climbs ... quite happy with 32:17 so far...seems to be a good compromise

COOL!!!! Great pics! Looks like the SS Rigid is serving you well. MIA? Nickname, or ... ?

So, besides the obvious "in Haliburton", where's Haliburton Forest????

SS Rigid. HAHA, I just go that. (runs away)

    Good job!

the place is wicked for epic rides..some very technical trails, but some aren't so there's something for everyone
the place is actually closer to the 118/35 than Haliburton, you can camp or rent cabins at the site (plan in advance, as it gets booked solid early) or stay at many cottage resorts near by.

My in-laws have a cottage on Little Redstone. My parents had a cottage on Big Redstone. Both cottages are within a 5 minute bike ride to the Haliburton Forest Base Camp. I love riding in there...especially, the Purple trails like Poachers, the Pass, etc.

WoW used to have an Enduro race there, but unfortunately, they are no longer running the races.

BTW, I've been riding my SS in there for 5-yrs using 36x18. There are a few hike-a-bike sections (mostly because there are too many baby heads on steep climbs), but for the most part, it works great.
