    Ganaraska

    Hey all,

Would anyone happen to know if Ganaraska is open for for biking tomorrow? Don't want to drive all the way there and have to turn around.

I've always known opening day to be may 1st but you could give them a call to double check.

2 bucks off a trail pass! Sweet! Too bad it wasn't open today. Tomorrow doesn't look like a very nice day for riding.

People have already been out riding for the past week. I did hear that the trails were a mess after Thur wind so watch for trees across the trails.

    trees down

I was in there last Sat. trails in good shape. many trees down that were too big to move. Around Oakhill (where logging was last year) there are long sections of trail that are not ride-able as there are many trees laying across the trail.

    Wink come 'n ride

At lot has been cleaned up in the forest. Trails around the forest centre are all good, I have not been to the 'holey land' but in the X-files there are some huge trees down in the valley. I think the forest centre staff have cut some trees out, we may have too and cleared a lot of the smaller stuff off the trails.

    Come out and enjoy,

I rode central forest last Tuesday and there were a bunch of trees down, has the clean-up work been done since then? I just did a mix of the 15 and 30km loops.

Tried to sneak around a tree on the ground and bent my derailleur, watch out!

    30k loop is a mess...

We rode the 30k loop last Sunday (8 days ago) and it was a disaster.....
If you like to go with a decent speed you won't enjoy it at all right now. It's not just the trees but all of the dead fall is still on the singletrack.
I couldn't get going because I always have to avoid sticks, branches everything..

I'll wait until Dan had his race there he'll do a beautiful clean up as always....

Ganaraska being a paysite should do a little bit of trail maintenance that's for sure....

I agree...I've got a membership ($60) and it certainly doesn't pay for any maintenance of single track. I'll clean up moveable debris as I ride along but I've seen large trees stay on the trails from the beginning of summer until the Paul's crew cleans them up in September.

It's probably the only downside to having such a great, huge forest an hour from any major city.
