Hardwood Hills has held a fat bike event past 2 seasons. Not sure of exact date but I think early March.
Pretty sure that will be on again considering the continued explosion in popularity of these ridiculous bikes!

So uh what happens if you show up at a "fat bike" race with skinny tires, like 3.0's or some chunky 2.7's?

Is there a minimum width requirement?

A lot of the races list minimum tire width requirements, which will be
A 3.7" width minimum. Most don't consider 3.0 a "true fat bike". (They are a lot of fun though)

Looking for a fellow racer that is interested in racing the upcoming Actif Epica race in Winnipeg, willing to share travel expenses.
I have room for one racer and their fatbike in my diesel wagon.
Pm me for more details if interested.

Yes, most races near us make the cut off at 3.5" or 3.7". Our race has an "open" category for normal mountain bikes and anything non- fat <3.5".

Thanks for posting this. Since the Colborne "Frostbike" is sold out then I am off the downtown Varysburg for the "wheelie Valentine day event. It was tempting to go to Rochester for the Mec5 fat tire festival
the next day but that would be at least 4 hours of extra driving.
