Nice! I worked as a Junior Ranger in '79 west of Kirkland Lake.

Spent a week east of Superior last month. Daytrip away from the trailer thru Manitouwadge, Caramat & a few other places most persons in southern Ontario have probably never heard of.

Nice pics, if you make it back up to Temagami , a good bike back country ride in from Hwy 11 or drive in a couple dozen km on dirt road and explore Red Squirel road area. Just a couple km north of town. It's crown land and you can camp there at Red Squirel lake . Great spot for free crown land base camp mixed bike and paddle week end on north Lake Temagami.

We chatted with man in the fire tower who was camping at a nearby lodge and he mentioned Red Squirrel Road. We drove by the entrance as we were heading out. Later, I looked it up and realized that was where the anti-logging protests happened back in the 1980's! Would love to check it out next time

Ya, before Bob Rae, believe but memory failing, he was one of protestors along with many locals, natives etc arrested. Is gated slightly before that bridge . (But bikes are light and cool remote area, bear spray etc a suggestion) Beautiful beach at top of Sandy inlet on Lake Temagami can be rode into and set tent on beach. Have printed pics somewhere from many multi day canoe trips started from that spot, cheers
