    Batty ablaze!

I can't believe this hasn't been mentioned yet.

Hopefully, with all of this success, she stops calling me. Emily, I'm happily married.

Canadians actually took three of the top four spots.

There is an Emily Batty thread in XC Racing and Training.

Very impressive that she beat Pendrel.

On the mens side, it looks like Max Plaxton will be a force to be reckoned with this year.
When under pressure, your level of performance will sink to your level of preparation.

From the headline, I thought she was actually on fire! False alarm!

    she won ONLY BECAUSE

    she was racing on platforms...

    or on a 29er.

    or both...

No way dude, she won because she was racing on clips.

Also, I wonder if there might be a Batty/Willow/Pendrel fight on this season... perhaps a bit of jealousy is brewing? meow.

    i am confused now

i thought you said platform pedals allow for dabbing in the corner which allows racers to go faster through it and pass slower clipped in riders with smaller nuts and bigger bellies...

    what changed now?

i just installed my new platforms. did i waste my money???

I think Batty looks great. I just don't know why she is calling only biggie, and not me.

The other variable with Sea Otter is that it is about 3/4 road and about 1/3 of that is pavement, so those 29" wheels would have helped big time.

Are you kidding, or am I not getting it? I thought the advantage of the big wheels was that they rolled over obstacles better. Not so many obstacles on paved road.

Anyway, I'm certain it was the 29er that gave her the edge!

Yeah, but, secretly I am convinced those clipless shoes make people winners, first lance... now emily!

with 6mm thick platforms around, those clipless pedals are bulky and not for racers.

Our own Rogozhin aka biggie, needs to leave Batty alone!

They also roll faster and are a big advantage where you can maintain momentum, like roads and smooth trails.

There's something vaguely unsettling about these pedals. That's a lot of leverage on the spindle/body joint. I'm sure they've done their homework but from here they look like a bit of a leap of faith!

    I resemble this remark.

I just saw the headline with "Batty" in it and knew that is a buzzword around here. My post was for the people.

The fact that several of the top female MTBers are "easy on the eyes" will probably not hinder the sport, or its popularity.

Yeah, looks neat! They're only prototypes though... i'm not sure a pedal can break more often than crack brother's smarty

You better keep that in check or this thread will blow up into another "should a professional in a trade other than say, stripping, remain a sex object?" holy war!

Yesterday she found out she was pregnant.

I guess Morka had the best Canadian performance from 105 to 70. Great to see all the guys move up about 20 places.
