    The Barrens Report

Spring time means messages and texts from southern ON mtbiking friends, asking me about riding conditions in The Barrens. Here is my report...

Thanks! Since a pic is worth 1000 words, this saves me a lot of keyboarding!

Lichen what I see... All the snow and ice is gone down here in the South but it's still chilly, not sure if mud season will be short or not.

And fun too. Probably the largest rock structure to ride on in Ontario that I know of. Ridden there 3 times (twice w/ BCD).

Apr & May and then from late Aug on are best on The Barrens. Deer flies are brutal there during summer months because it is open sunny terrain which is what they favour.

The trail(s) are not all rocks - for us on 'skinny' tires - are we liable to do any damage ?

Yep ...typical skinny tire in mud ruts through some areas until things dry out. Those sections of trail are never very long though.
