I've decided to join the ranks of "Crazy Winter Cyclists".

Yesterday I bought some cycling "bootys" for my shoes, so my feet won't freeze in this weather.

I pretty well have everything else I need to stay warm so I plan on riding to work around 3 times a week as long as there isn't a lot of snow on the roads and it isn't -10 celsius.

Today I rode to work and it was a little slick in sections due to the light coating of snow but as long as you don't do any crazy sharp turns and you give yourself room to stop you should be okay. As well I'm using some really knobby tires to make sure I'm getting good traction and they seem to be working well.

My commute to work is only 7 k but I take a 10 k route home. As the weather gets better and I get back into shape I will ride my 20 k route home.

I'm missing (?) the bike commute this week because I'm on call and have to take a truck home. I get to park my bike in my boss's office most of the time, I work at a satellite office, the boss only comes by about every 4 or 5 weeks, so I've taken over the prime bike parking spot. I just have to be careful about the drips!
