This is the first year since 2009 I will not be riding solo singlespeed for this event. It doesn't line up with my schedule unfortunately. It's gonna be weird not being there
    Strava made me do it....

I'll be soloing as well. I'm pretty out of shape for an 8hr ride so I guess my goal will be just to ride for 8hrs.

    Mansfield is SS friendly.

Friendly like offering your friend a beer, and then hitting him in the face when you throw it to him.

Exactly!! I think I will stick with the easier gearing I use on our local climby trails. May cost me early, but save me for later in the race.

I will be doing the 8 hour, probably solo single speed. But I hope the course is easier than last year. They went crazy with all the climbing, which turned out to be a lot of walking, even for many geared guys.

    I will miss Unglued.

You could do me a favour and use 2:1 as suggested by Arek.

Haha...I may not be the sharpest knife on the tree(???), but that won't be happening. I have pretty easy gearing on there right now....I think it may stay that way.

All I seem to remember when I think 'Mansfield' is that long false flat, O2 debt, and the long start climb....

I will use the same thing I had last year - 34:19. If they have too many ugly climbs like last year I will have to walk regardless of what I put on.

A couple of years ago the course was reasonable and I managed 14 laps. I am hoping for such a course.

Well....the last 2 years I ran 34:18. 2 years ago it was fine. Last year with all the climbing, it was horrible, but I still managed to place respectably (for me). IIRC, Riot, your usual gearing is 32:20. That's going to be a bit low for Mansfield. My advice is the run a 32:18. There are some climbs you will have to walk no matter how you are geared but a slightly taller gear than your usual will allow you to cover ground on the flats (and the false flat) faster. I believe the bike you used at Hardwood last year was 32:18 if that helps...

I am doing Tag this year on the SS, coming off Pneumonia meds starting tomorrow so the lungs are gonna hurt. Sorry Joel! This is the first time in a few years I have done this race. Hoping I can clear all the left over Phlegm before Saturday.

First climb will take care of that. Remember, always shoulder check before you eject. You may find some preferred targets nearby.
Nuke the entire site from orbit. It's the only way to be sure.

I'm glad I'm on a 4 man team, more time for beer between laps

Sad thing is, Camelbaks don't work with beer because of the carbonation... so, Vodka and Orange Juice will do.

Mansfield start hill is the perfect place to granny yourself up and down an entire bottle. In my case, I have enough time for 2 at least.

i didn't say "No" time for beer for you guys, just "More" time for us 4 people teams to sit back and really enjoy the beer. (not to say you wouldn't enjoy also). I would just have time to think about it.
