XT or PG 1070 Cassette? and seeking a good 32-30t plate.

    Hi guys,

I got an aluminum rear hub which needs a new cassette. the options for new cassette are an XT or PG 1070. from your own experience which one is the better one? I do not care much about the weight, I belive it is negligible, but more for the durability.

another thing - I didn't understand rather the "spider" (or the part that comes in touch with the hub) of the PG 1070 is an aluminum one (it says alloy - but it may be also steel alloy).

for the plate - I know that the raceface are good. are there any other companies worth checking out in the same price range?

    thanks

For me the XT has more cogs AFAIK pinned to alu spiders, 6 in two clusters of 3 and will therefor not eat your alu freehub up. As to chainrings, RF makes good stuff, as do Blackspire & Chromag, I personally mostly use Blackspire.
One day your life will flash before your eyes, will it be worth watching??

For the front chainring look at WolfTooth. Very nicely made. There are dozens of other good options, as well. North Shore Billet is a great little company. Straitline, Blackspire and Chromag are also excellent. WT is made in US. NSB, Straitline, and Blackspire are made in Canada. Race Face, Renthal, Hope are all very good. Hope is made in UK. I'm not sure if Renthal is still UK-made. RF I believe is made in Taiwan or elsewhere in Asia. Assuming you're looking for a 1x drivetrain, make sure the chainring is narrow/wide (different companies refer to it differently). Remember to get the correct length chainring bolts. 30T typically is self-threaded and takes standard 2x/3x length bolts, whereas 32T takes shorter bolts.

As far as the cassette, flip a coin. Both are good and both will gouge your freehub body.
