Xt-8000 derailuer with 46 Tooth cassette anyone try it?

I have a xt-8000 derailuer and got a great deal on a 46 tooth cassette. So has anyone tried this? If they have could I get feedback on how it worked being itís rated for only 42 tooth. I would imagine if there is a problem that a longer B screw or a wolf tooth link would take care of it. I at least hope so. Any important would be greatly appreciated.

Shimano specifically made an xt 11-46 cassette for that derailleur. Originally it was a 42, but a few months or a year later they produced one with 46 to compete better with sram... so yes it will work.

    Its m8000 which means it's for 46t.

consider the source you got this information from.

Shimano says 46T. I assume they know their derailleurs better than whoever your source is :-)

And yes, I run the XT and SLX RD with 42 and 46T cassettes with no problem.

Yes the m8000 and wolftooth will work on a 50t as well, but not as well as a m7100

No reason not to buy the 7100 since you can upgrade with it ltr works great with 11s shifter

Im running the box cassette on a 11s m7000 derailleur (SLX). Its designed to work with a 46, so it does. Honestly it looks like it might work with a 50t as-is, theres quite a bit of room left.

Weirdly, shimano works better with a box cassette than the full box setup does.

You can run 50t cassettes with the m7000/8000 derailleur.

Yes but it sucks. even with wolfs tooth. Bought the 7100 and don't look back, hits all the gears properly

its not designed with the range the m7100 has, mine worked for a while on a sunrace 11-50 and i thought it didnt suck, until i bought the correct one for said application and the difference was night and day

I've been curious about replacing my 11-42 with a 11-46 vs upgrading to M8100. Its like speaker testing...would someone really notice the difference between M8000 vs M8100 on a blind double test?

    M8000 cassette/chain replacement is $125 vs. M8100 Shifter/derailleur/cassette/chain $340 + Wolftooth Chainring $75 + $100 Microspline Freehub = $515. Is the M8100 really worth ~$400 over the M8000?

No. Especially adding in a wheel relace.
