XT 1X11 compatibility with 10sp hub?

Thinking of upgrading my 2x10 to 1x11 XT. I've been reading up on it, and from what I gather the XT cassette will fit a 10sp hub?

I currently have Salsa 2 by Fornula hubs on my Horsethief, with a PG1030 cassette.

To do the conversion, I would need the XT rear shifter, XT plus derailer, XT cassette (11-42), and a single chain ring... I was thinking RaceFace narrow wide 32T..., and an 11sp chain, correct?

If so, not bad. I priced it out to under 300 nucks with current sales going on.

Does this sound like a good setup?

    Thanks!

Add a Shimano 11 speed chain to you list. OOps, see you have it listed. Sorry.

You can get by with your existing rear deraileur, but it will shift slightly better with the new one. I'm currently running an SLX rear mech on mine.

xt 11 speed cassette will work on 10 speed freehubs because what shimano did was move the gears further inboard.
