    XD Driver to Shimano Driver

I've got a 2017 Spark 945. And I'm thinking about drivetrain upgrades. Most likely going with GX Eagle once available, but weighing out my options in the meantime.

It looks like I can go with a Shimano XT 11-46 cassette, derailleur, and shifter for less money that the GX Eagle setup, so long as the Shimano driver is a possibility with my wheels.

I will keep my NX crank as I understand it should work for both the XT and Eagle setups.

As per the Scott website, my rear hub is:
Syncros CL14811 / Boost 148x12mm RWS axle / XD / made by Formula

Can I buy a Shimano driver for my rear wheel, and if so, which one???

    Ummm....

    SRAM Eagle is 12 speeds.
    Shimano is only 11 speeds.

    Not going to work.

You're on 11 speed right now, correct?

If so, you could switch to 11 speed shimano, but you're going to have to replace the shifter, rear derailleur, and the freehub to be shimano compatible.

At the same time, for 12 speed, you'll need to upgrade the shifter, rear derailleur, and the cassette.

Personally, I'd just stick with 11 speed SRAM. Shimano is quite a bit heavier, there's just not a lot you're going to gain for the cost of either 12 speed or switching to Shimano.

    Agreed...

No real benefit to switch to Shimano 11speed unless you have to have the 11-46 vs 10-42.

Shimano cassettes do weigh more but are much cheaper (~1/3 of the price of SRAM) considering these are consumable components.

I've taken all of that into consideration.

I'd like lower gearing than my 10-42, and the cost savings is fairly substantial between Shimano XT and SRAM Eagle

I've got a 28t chainring on the way, and I may not need to upgrade anything further if it suits me.
I'm also planning on scrapping my NX shifter regardless, but can't buy a shifter until I'm set on keeping my current setup, going to Eagle, or XT.

My only concern at the moment is which Shimano free hub driver I need, if one is available for my current hub.
If none is available for my hub, then I can delete all Shimano options from my list.

If you don't mind losing the higher gear ratio at the top end, the 28t (or even a 26t) chainring is the least expensive choice.
Brand new GX shifters to replace your NX are ~ $35

Going back to a Shimano free hub is a waste of money.

You could use the money to buy a different set of cranks, and put a 26T up front and keep your 10-42 cassette and have nearly the exact same gearing as a 30T with an 11-50 cassette.

I looked briefly and definitely see any off the shelf shimano freehubs. The hub model you're dealing with is a syncros cl14811.

I would definitely figure this part out before going any further.
